Can my druid buy masterwork dragonhide breastplate?

My druid is 8th level, has plenty of gold and 43 fame.

Someone said that a dragonhide breastplate is only available via a chronicle sheet vs a post on here from 2011 that says you can use prestige to buy it. What's the scoop? Is it an option for my druid?

Well it's a special material from the Core Rule book, and it doesn't specify that only certain armors can be made from it so it should be no different then buying a cold iron weapon or adamantine armor. If you have the gold you should be able to buy it. Only magic items have the gold limit I believe.

I'm presuming that the disparity here is that the Dragonhide Special Material is NOT an "Always Available" option (unlike Mithral, Adamantine, +1 weapons and armor, etc.)

However, just like anything else that is not "Always Available," a high enough fame score would allow you the option to purchase that particular item. e.g. a +2 chain shirt (4,250 gp) is not available to purchase until you have a fame score of 18 (5,000 gp cap)

Your 43 fame caps your purchases at 31,000 gp. So, you could (theoretically) purchase a +5 dragonhide breastplate (25,500 gp) if you so desired.

Dragonhide is available from fame, but isn't always available.

You can absolutely purchase armor made from Dragonhide. You just need the Fame score to do it.

Out of curiosity, is there any mechanical benefit to Dragonhide besides for Druids, and perhaps rust monsters?

This is in the wrong forum. Belongs in PFS. In the rules question forum, which isn't PFS-specific, the answer is an obvious "yes." ;)

- Coolness factor.

- Color matching outfits.
- Discount on energy resistance.
- Rust-proof, can't be targeted by spells like heat metal.

Shouldn't this be in the PFS forum?
