Treasurer Cohort? Paladin of Abadar?

Kingmaker

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We're at the leadership level. Just finishing chapter 2 I think. Baron Xavier Ulfstander is Paladin of Erastil though morally flexible as Paladin sgo. I'm considering using my cohort to fill the role of treasurer in part for the benefit of upgrading Oleg.

My thought is a Paladin of Abadar who really never cut it in the field so to speak, but is wiz-bang with the monies and can really get behind the idea of developing a right-minded economic powerhouse that can be a force of enlightenment in the region.

But that a Paladin build with high mental stats and low physical ones. It looks odd, but the cohorts here won't generally be adventurers, but more helping run the kingdom?

And better ideas?

Thanks

Treasurer uses int or wis. A cleric (of Abadar?) or wizard would be better for the job; and, they can be given crafting feats as well.

Zen Archer Paladong multiclass!

Ahem. Now that I got that out of my system, have you considered Inquisitor? It seems like one of those would have more skill points (so your cohort could have more utility out of combat)

Plus, I like the idea of an Abadar-worshipping inquisitor. In my mind he vanquishes those with poor investment-planning xD

Why?

Your pwn post said he didn't cut it in the field...ever wonder WHY?

I like the idea...it gets you away from a min-max mentality - why does
everyone always think that PCs/NPCs have to be perfectly statted with all
of the absolutely maximised correct feats etc...

How about a Paladin of the books? One who is intelligent & uses that to
bring down merchants without morals, miscreants who try to evade taxes
etc etc etc...

Give him/her? 1 better than average physical stat, but 2 better than
average mental stats... Perhaps a low wisdom, which is why they tried
adventuring, but failed as they just weren't cut out for it...
Good INT it is then, plus some CHR...& maybe STR, which is why your low
WIS Pally went adventuring - because they thought it was all about being
strong...

Yeah, cleric of abadar.

Or inquisitor, if rooting out corruption is a thing you want.

Sounds like an amazing plan. In fact, I'm going to use it for my campaign as well.

I mean, not everyone is perfectly mad for their job. This guy had the training, didn't like adventuring or was held back because he was just too good with doing the books.

"What's that guy's problem?"
"Don't mess around with him. He looks like a bookkeeper, but he keeps his sword very sharp. Ever seen him train?"

*grins* One of my characters has a Ex-Barbarian Butler / Chef among his staff :)

I actually gave all my players a 'free' leadership feat with the proviso they only took characters with NPC classes - PC classes were strictly forbidden. (OK, I let the Ex-barbarian bit sneak through because I thought it was cool - but I restricted it to one level)

It made them a lot more inventive in the way they set things up.
