How would you stat out the Monster In The Darkness? (and other OotS characters)

If I were to stat out MitD, I would probably begin by slapping some fearsome, child-like monster with a umbral bestow curse spell. The curse could be made into something innocuous with no mechanical effect (like making the monster more hideous perhaps). That way, the creature will radiate darkness out to 10-feet forever. Give ita big pink umbrella, and you're golden!

How would the umbrella stay outside of the darkness sphere then?

Don't stat it out. Just let it do whatever you want for a few years and either never explain it or give some unsatisfactory deus ex machina explanation.

[Edit]: my best guess for the other characters is that they are all something like level 15-17

It functions like the darkness spell, which means an umbrella can block the darkness in the same fashion that throwing a towel over the target of a light/darkness spell would work.

Alternatively, just make the umbrella really big, with a really long handle.

I'm pretty sure the monster in the darkness does not have a super-human intelligence, wisdom and charisma. Actually, I'd say none of those ability scores are over 10, maybe with the exception of intelligence, which might just be present but held back by his terrible wisdom.

I don't know. Tsikio was pouring over that ritual for days, she's an arcane AND divine caster and couldn't figure it out she had only the arcane half of a ritual. The monster GLANCED at it and noticed it was half a ritual.

I think he's a LOT smarter than he lets on.

Yes, as I said in my previous post as well, I'd concede he could have decent intelligence. He does show some signs of solid intelligence, and most of his frequent idiocy could be explained by a terrible (and I do mean truly terrible) wisdom score. Still, I'd say an intelligence of 20 is way too high - especially earlier in the comic he just didn't act like that at all. And wisdom and charisma definitely have to both be below 10.

Shadow Lodge

It's obviously a grue.
