Question about making a Race

Using the Advance Race Guide it states that Monsterous Humaniod, Outsider, and several others get Darkvision 60 under its listing.

Monstrous Humanoid
• Monstrous humanoids have the darkvision 60 feet
racial trait.
• Monstrous humanoids breathe, eat, and sleep.

But does that mean its gets FREE Darkvision or does it need to pay 2 points for it? I noticed in many of the prebuilt races like the Trox is does indeed list the Darkvision as a separate cost, but the wording under the Race Types makes it seem like it should in fact be a FREE ability associated with the racial type.

If its not free why is it there? Whats the benefit then of being a MH or an Outsider if you have to buy the skill when you could be human and pay 0 points for the type and then just buy the skill rather then pay a total of 5 points for type and the skill.

The creature types(and subtypes) are essentially packages that group abilities together in a consistent way. All Draconic creatures have X Y Z, and all Outsiders get A B C. Mostly its for ease of use. Of course there is the whole spell targeting thing as well.
