In a game with a square grid "straight back" is still relative since even a diagonal line is still a straight line. RAW diagonal should be acceptable as long as you are able to push them back while following diagonal movement rules at 45 degree angles, any "straight" lines at any angle other than 45 degrees (like how line spells work) should still be acceptable aswell should they follow the same pattern to make a straight line and movement rules.
I will see if I can make some images for you and either post links here or PM you
Either way its up the the GM for the final say in this since this is no official clarification that I know of.

Ok, but my last question was maybe too concise, so:
What kind of maneuver/action can i take to throw someone out of a square wide bridge?
See Reposition combat maneuver.

You may want to read that again Avianfoo, Reposition states "You cannot use this maneuver to move a foe into a space that is intrinsically dangerous, such as a pit or wall of fire." Off of a bridge is just like the pit, its "intrinsically dangerous".
Also "You cannot move a creature into a square that is occupied by a solid object or obstacle." Even if you could reposition them off the bridge, if it had any kind of siding (such as the walls of a stone bridge, or even rope siding of a simple wood and rope bridge) would be considered an obstacle.| Avianfoo |

Missed that line. Then again that rule makes about as much sense as having to only bull rush in a straight line backwards. But such is RAW.

Well actually Reposition is a really fun manuver if you are able to get it really high to surpass there CMD, you could pull them around side you, then push them away from you, towards your allys, its a mix of drag and bullrush in a way, because you can push and pull them in the same action.

Back to the original question, the rules take great pains that you can't do something like this. So break the bridge. That or fly to the side and bull rush the poor sap off.

Reposition is the best and offers the most control. You just need this feat to do it. Doing it with grapple allows a check to avoid it, whereas the improved version of Reposition is automatic with your successful roll.

Thank you for posting this, I thought I saw something about being able to reposition into danger before but since I couldn’t find it I didn’t state it.
