Can a druid become an air elemental and hustle for extended periods of time while flying? Or not?

Sure. Wild Shape lasts 1 hour per level per use, so as long as you make any relevant Constitution checks, you certainly can. At level 6 you could do so for 12 hours.

Your teammates may have difficulty keeping up, of course.

So, you DO need to make the checks >_< Darn... i hoped flight would be exempt. Because i think overland flight does exempt you (or not, not sure)

If you're referring to the spell Overland Flight, it does, yes, but as you are aware, it's not the same effect.
