Feats (general question)

Rules Questions

I know this is a little bit of a silly question, but what happens if you gain a feat that you already have? I know in normal circumstances you can't take a feat more than once unless it says you can. But, for example, a Level-1 Ranger takes the Endurance feat. At 3rd level, he gains the Endurance feat. What happens?

any references you could provide would be appreciated.

There's a bit somewhere about when you receive as a class feature something you already have. The bottom line? Nothing.
Some classes specify an alternative. Most do not and in those cases you add only what you do not already have. I think it is in the section about advancing level.

If this occurs, and you spent a feat on it (you specifically chose it), I would let you choose another when you get it "again".

An example of what I mean, say the character was a Wizard that for some reason took Armor Proficiency (Light). Then later on you decide to multiclass, and get a class that has that (like most of them do). At this point I would let the character choose another.

You cannot swap feats that you get "just because". Again, as an example, if you were a class that already had weapon proficiency in all Simple weapons, and then you got another class that gives it, you get nothing new.
