Help on building and Alchemist

Silver Crusade

I wanted to build a good effect alchemist and can't figure out or find any good feats to take for the alchemist, any suggestions or ideas. Also I was in a public game and a players Alchemist was able to drink a extract and spit it back in the vile, what is that is it a feat,ability or trait? If anyone can help please comment


Do you want the alchemist to blow stuff up, or turn into a mutated freak and rip people apart?

It was a spell/formulae called alchemical allocation, AKA, the alchemist becomes a spontaneous caster with every potion they carry with them.

Well I'm playing a home game and I was trying to figure a way out of being a mutagen alchemist and a medic due to the Chirurgeon Archtype

I'm also curious to know but isn't there an ability,feat, or class skill that lets Alchemists give their extracts or other things similar to that to other players?

The Infusion discovery.

Only applies to extracts, not to mutagens.

There's an extract that lets you spit a potion back. Alchemical Allocation.


When in doubt, above level 2, the extra discovery feat should always prove useful

There's an archetype from Inner Sea Magic that lets you share mutagens (The Oenopian Researcher). You can't combine Oenopian Researcher with Chirurgeon, though, because they both replace Poison Use.

Speaking of the Chirurgeon, that archetype automatically treats all Cure extracts as infusions, so you won't need that discovery if you only want to gice Cure extracts to others.


The feats you need are the ones you've heard of, plus extra discovery.

For a melee alchemist, Power Attack

For a bomber, all of the archery feats

And as usual, imp. Initiative.

The Exchange

I have found Splash Weapon Mastery to be a very good first (or second) feat for my Alchemists (I have 3 in PFS, all Chirurgeons).


Infusions are great - they are force multipliers that you don't have to use your own in-combat actions for. Some good lower level formulas for infusions include:
* alchemical allocation - drink a potion or elixir without using it up (elixir of elemental protection is amazing, elixir of spirit sight is good too)
* ablative barrier - give the meat shield DR
* shield
* blur
* kinetic reverberation - attackers damage their weapons
* cure X wounds

For a bomber alchemist: if you have the Adventurer's Armory book, then take the Splash Weapon Mastery feat.

There's really a lot to mention here that I can't do justice, but for starters I'd suggest checking out my Alchemist Guide for any in depth advice.

Aside from that, you're looking for Infusion to help you be a buffer, Alchemical Allocation to keep your potions after use. Also consider the combat trait Accelerated Drinker to allow you to drink a potion as a move action.


I would recommend Iron will to buff your worst save. Extra discovery is always a good feat choice.

I saw that alchemists have a spell list, is that more stuff they turn into extracts and stuff or just actual spells. I also saw somewhere that they can use wizard spells as formulae
