Acquiring Boons that you can't use.

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

I was the sorceress at the Apothecary and the three spells were all Divine only spells. I figured that I could not acquire at all: If you do not have the Divine skill, banish this card.
After the game I thought that maybe I could acquire it and hand it on to another player. Then I thought that perhaps I could even Play that card though I would need to Banish it rather than Discard. And then I thought that was going too far and decided to post the question.

Can you acquire spells without the appropriate skill?

Yes, the banish effect means that you have to banish it when you play it instead of discarding it.

Effectively a 1 use item, like a potion.

Thank you. I can see how it is like a potion.

How is acquiring the card have anything to do with the actual abilities of the card? The Banish effect for spells is only after you actual play them.

Well, for example Burglar has a required eventuality listed, that triggers by not acquiring the card, and it is written directly in the abilities box. So there is certainly some scope for confusion. This seems to be inconsistent with the abilities box simply asking to banish a card if a certain skill is missing. It should say 'After playing this card, banish if...'

Common sense helps, but there would be no harm in having extra clarification on the cards themselves.
