A quick rules question: If it is NOT my turn and I want to play a boon or power feat to help the active player do I need to be in the same location?

Dark Archive

Not unless the card/power says otherwise.
Valeros you have to be in the same location to use his power, Harsk you actually need to be in a different location.

Liberty's Edge

As has been explained in at least 3-4 other threads on these boards. There are no limitations unless the rules or cards put them there.

To be clear, there is one 'implied' limitation - cards like Thieves Tools cannot be played on other people's checks. The "to defeat a barrier" has an implied "that YOU are encountering" in it (this is from Mike).

Other than that, most cards say 'on your check' or 'on your turn' if you can only use them on your check/turn.

Some further notes for you...

- as soon as you flip over a card to start an encounter, you can only play cards that affect the skill/check used for that encounter.

- cards like Cure and Mend cannot be cast during an encounter but they CAN be played on other people's turns. You just have to cast them before or after the encounter phase.

Enjoy the game - it's a great one!

Silver Crusade

Really? I thought Cure and Mend could only be used on the caster's turn. I thought the only thing players could do when it's not their turn is play cards and/or activate powers that help with other players' checks.

@Fromper - you can definitely cast Cure or Mend on other people's turns. There's no restriction listed on these cards so there's no need to invent one!

However, you cannot play them during an encounter (not between flipping the card to start the encounter and ending the encounter by banishing/replacing/shuffling the encountered card).
