Curing Acid Damage

Rules Questions

So a character in my game came up with a backstory involving a) his face and b) a black dragon's acid breath.

Basically behind his mask he ain't pretty. At all. The damage was done years ago, and though he survived, it was never healed.

What spell would grow his face back?

Regeneration, I suppose. Or restoration if it's some sort of ability damage, since the HP damage is gone.

The on;y spell I know of that cures cosmetic damage (for sure) would be regeneration, anything else would be up to the dm. Of course any number of lower level spells that change the way one looks could also work, at least for however long they last.

Its not that expensive to have a regeneration spell cast too.

Silver Crusade

I wish to suggest an unpleasant but cheaper option.

He could get a surgeon and friendly level 1 cleric handy with multiple Cure Light Wounds and also Infernal Healing. Take knock-out drugs to go unconscious (a lot of booze would do it, but something stronger would be better). Activate Infernal Healing, and keep it going for the surgery. Then the surgeon cuts away the permanently acid damaged flesh, right down to the bone. More magical healing, keeping him from dying. Heal to full.

I imagine the acid-damaged areas would grow back without the acid damage. Subject to GM interpretation.
