How to build a Venomancer

Advice

If one were to want to make a Venomancer, how would you make one. I don't want to leverage Alchemist, I want an "actual caster" like wizard or sorc. I'm thinking a 1-3 level dip into Poisoner Rogue archetype, backed up by spells like Accelerate Poison. How would you put this together?

You might go arcane trickster in that case and use pernicious poison, accelerate poison (both wizards and witches tend to share the spells needed) etc. Seriously though, considering that in those cases you will be a few CLs behind, why not get an alchemist? Poisons are usually delivered by attacks, and wizards don´t do that well in that regard.

Alternatively, a snake shaman druid could be an interesting choice, especially if you pick some alchemical crafting as well. I have to say though, there aren´t that many poison spells in the books.

Basically, I want a "real caster" venomancer... ie, delivering poison via magic rather than the traditional method of slathering it on a sharp piece of metal. So I'm looking for sources of magical poison delivery. I'd prefer arcane over divine for thematic aesthetic, but I'm more willing to compromise that and it would fit into the "-mancer" meaning of the term in that they divine the future through poison use... did they twitch this way or that way as they suffered the effects of envenomation. I don't entirely mind that poisons are sub-optimal and it may even be preferred because there's a GM I sometimes play with who is of the opinion that if you're not min-maxing and hyper-optimizing, you're playing wrong and I just like to throw optimized builds built around a sub-optimal theme (ie. Poison use) just to push his buttons. So don't worry about it being "less damage than a blaster". He's a poison mage who enjoys watching things die from the inside out, but he's still a true magic user who uses direct magic rather than the more indirect alchemist.

Serpentine bloodline focused on necromancy for the poison spells should work.

Envenomed bloodline. Utilize crossbows or blow guns or what not to utilize the weapon envenoming.

Also, look at the Vishkanya.

Beyond that, poison based spells and everything. Craft Alchemy to make some mundane poisons.

You can fluff other debilitation (Debuff) spells around poison, such as ray of enfeeblement being the image of a viper shooting from your palm to bite someone. I'd also advice paralysis/hold/stun/etc spells to give your poisons time to work.

... It works. I've played it as a cross-blood Envenom/Pestilence Elf. My GM was tearing his hair out as my elf was kicking back and relaxing as the enemies writhed around on the ground and the party went about cleaning up the mess.

You probably won't be outright killing the baddies, but you'll certainly play a huge role.

Hmm, that sounds good. Deliver poison via ranged weapon, and then magically enhance it. I also found a spell that lets me "absorb" a vial of poison and deliver via melee touch. It could allow for a good "fall-back" for if they force me into close combat, have a vial of poison pre-prepared and ready to go and just tag them with it.
