Champion of Irori and Sensei / Bard multiclass

Rules Questions

Shadow Lodge

Hello fellow messageboard-goers I am working on a sensei paladin champion of irori and have the following questions

1.)If I am a dervish dancer bard with levels in sensei, can I spend sensei bardic performance rounds to battledance, and can I spend bard bardic performance rounds to normally inspire courage

2.)If I enter CoI prestige with an archetype that replaces flurry of blows, do I get flurry of blows with a monk level equal to my CoI level?

The second one seems like it would be the case, but I can't quite figure out how the first one works.

2) No. You can add your CoI levels to your monk levels to determine the power of FoB, but since you don't have FoB from your monk archetype, you don't advance it with CoI.

1) Also no. Since both are like bardic performance, but not bardic performance, you can't use them interchangeably or stack them. In fact, unless explicitly stated, even if two classes have a feature called BP, they wouldn't stack. This is like a Ranger/Druid who would have two separate Animal Companions, not one that is bettered by both classes.

You can do both at the same time though. You could use the dance to empower yourself (through perform(dance)) and use Sensei's Advice to empower your allies (through perform(oratory)). Keep in mind that like bonuses don't stack so this would only be worthwhile if the bonus from the dance were better than the bonus from advice.

With all of this class mixing, when are you going to fit in a Paladin level?

I see your point on #1, but #2 I would be inclined to think that since it says levels in champion of irori stack with levels of monk for FoB, the essential stack would be 0 levels of monk+x levels of champion of irori. Also, paladin is level 5 unless I decide to not take bard levels.

Multiple AC granting classes stack says the AC rules.

RtrnofMax is correct; the Champion of Irori will *not* grant flurry to the Sensei.

Just pointing out that advice says it is identical to bardic performance.

@LoreKeeper:Why doesn't it work. Normally, I would agree, but it specifically says it stacks with levels in monk when determining purpose of FoB, and therefor the stack, the way I see it, would be 0 levels of monk+x levels of CoI. Do you have a link or something?

While I cannot find the specific post offhand, I am sure the dev's have posted that you cannot advance a class abiliry you do not have.

CoI only IMPROVES your Flurry. If you do not HAVE flurry you cannot improve it.

Unless it specifically says it GRANTS you flurry (like the Ki Pool ability explicitly does in that same PrC) then it does not.

The Ki Pool states it grants it AND it stacks with existing. The other only says you can stack levels to determine power, NOT that it grants it.

I suppose that makes sense. Thanks everyone.

I forgot to ask, can a sensei take extra performance? I can understand why they wouldn't be able to RAW, but I think that they should be able to, since it does say that advice is identical to bardic performance.
