Hi there, I'm planning on joining a friends game in progress, I'll be building a level 4 Summoner Synthesist. The party consists of a cleric, paladin, monk, sorceress, and an occasional rogue drop in.
I'll have a 750 gp purse plus 3000 gp to spend on one magical item (I don't get the change).
I'm just looking to have a lot of fun with the class, but could use some guidance for the initial setup. I know you can't really go wrong, but I'm just looking for that nudge to break me out of my indecisiveness.
Does strictly using natural attacks outweigh wielding weapons? Given that I can buy one magical item worth up to 3000 gp, would you suggest biped or quad, and which item?
I'm assuming I should save for an amulet of mighty fists (+1), a big 2H, or even a few 1h's down the road. Any suggestions? From there I think I can manage a build

I would recommend basing it off of what you want to turn in to. If you want to make a dragon, go quadraped, angels go biped, etc. Like you said, it's by defualt really strong, so go for your favorite thematic, rather than which is stronger. If you do go for a quad though, I would really ask your DM about getting the gold count increased to 4000. This is in line with CWBL (You'll be starting short of it regardless), and Getting an Amulet ASAP is pretty core if you're going to natural attack.
