James, how many prestige points would it cost for the title Captain or Knight Commander in Mendev. I have an 11th level Paladin of Iomedae who is is from Mendev and near retirement and would like to spend some prestige points.
I can't really say. Prestige Points aren't something I've really delved that far into. My preference in this type of situation is that a character should earn that title during the course of play and be awarded it by the GM at the right time in the storyline.

I'd borrow the Vanities from the Andoran faction in PFS for a similar feel. IIRC, Lance Corporal is Fame 20, 5 PP, Knight is Fame 40, 5 PP, and Captain (in their case, literally a captain of a ship, but also a military title) is also Fame 40, 5 PP. I'll look it up when I snag my book.

Hmm. My copy of the Pathfinder Society Field Guide seems to have gone AWOL. I believe I lent it to a fellow-player. I think the PP cost on those is a bit lower (1 or 2 PP each, IIRC), and I know Lance Corporal makes you specialized in Diplomacy, and Knight makes you specialized in Perform (oratory). I think Captain gives you a bump to Profession (sailor). But this is all from memory, so it could all be wrong.
For a home game, I'd go with:
Lance Corporal (or similar rank):
20 Fame, 2 PP
You have gained the rank of Lance Corporal. You become specialized in Diplomacy. You may add the title of Lance Corporal to your name.
Knight:
Lance Corporal, 30 Fame, 2 PP
You have been knighted. You become specialized in Knowledge (nobility). You may add the title of Knight to your name.
Captain (or similar rank):
Lance Corporal or Knight, 40 Fame, 1 PP
You are a Captain in the Mendevian Crusades. You may add the title of Captain to your name. You become specialized in Profession (soldier). If you are also a knight, you may add the title of Knight Captain to your name.
If you've got a lot of Prestige to blow, I'd also add one of the property vanities (probably a modified version of the private island one so it's a small keep or fort- costs 30 PP, and you get an additional follower slot in PFS) to represent having a holding you defend from demonic invasion.
