Background advice for a Tiefling(Paladin)

Advice

I am going in to the Wrath of the Righteous campaign here and was wondering if I could get a little help on some specifics.

I am planning on being a tiefling, whose parents were cultists for asmodeus in cheliax. Where would be a decent region in cheliax for cultists to go hang out and have a crazy demon-birth? I was thinking afterwords that I could have been a part of the cult until I was in my teens and then maybe they tried to give me up for sacrifice and I killed them all and fled.

The road was rough and I was definitely killing and stealing and sowing chaos around when a follower of Iomedae defeats me in a battle and takes me hostage. Only hostage because if I was released I would likely slay the person. I am taken with this person for quite some time, maybe months even, until we are both captured by demons and cultists once again. While I am captured this person is trying to convert me to Iomedae. I have interest in hearing the tales because I am bored, and any talk is better than silence, though I really have no thoughts to worship any deity in light of what had happened to me in the past. The demons have us for a few days and I watch as this person of faith is broken and eventually slanders Iomedae and accepts asmodeus as his deity. They kill him anyways and I convince the demons that I am like them and they should let me go. Upon my escape I kill a few and flee once again. During my travel in the next few days/weeks I reflect heavily on who I am as a person.. Or demon. Unsure of my own path anymore, I realize his/her words had sunk in deeper than I imagined. Just as I am about kill myself a cleric/paladin/anythingelsecool sort of "saves me" and takes me to kenebras. Im there for a period of time and eventually I become a paladin of Iomedae. I would like whoever saved and converted me to be sort of a loner. Someone out of the ordinary who would actually care to help a tiefling when there is a war of demons happening right outside the door. so-to-speak.

Did i mention that this will be a holy crusade, basically?

That should be enough to go off of. I kind of need the blanks filled in on specifics, really. Where exactly I came from, where I likely went in between here and there, any cool badassness background added with my parents or anything else would be apprectiated.

Might be too much to deal with, but yeah. trying to get this finished by tomorrow night so. Help is always appreciated.

Also- what sorts of things define a tiefling? Do i have to be a red demon looking guy, or can i be a different color or have only a small way to see my demon-ness.

Do i have to have horns and basically look crazy with sharp teeth, or can i have something more interesting like a tail i conceal or... i dont know... something not-so-typical. easier to hide, maybe?

One of the great things about tieflings as a race is how varied they can be. I would suggest tracking down a copy of Blood of Fiends, it essentially gives all the info about tieflings as far as appearance goes and what goes along with that.

You could have a tiefling who looks almost perfectly human but give them minor differences, for instance you could have beast like hands/feet and just wear gloves and boots at all times. Sharp teeth is a pretty common thing that isnt usually to noticeable, tails and vestigial wings are pretty easily hidden (though having a prehensile tail can be really useful at times). Scaly skin is another physical characteristic that is common and easily hidden. Horns are also not required, it really depends on what lineage you were born from look through the bestiary and find devils of various types (Things like Oni for instance) and see how they look and translate characteristics onto your character.

Well, Tieflings in Cheliax actually have their own walled in ghetto.

It's one of the highest concentrations of Tieflings in Golarion.

Also, Tieflings can be borne of any humanoid coupling.

Many do not even acquire any of their more fiendish attributes until puberty, and even then, some are very subtle, whilst some are very extreme.

The choice of your Humanoid parents, and the level of fiendish attributes is entirely up to you, and can help shape your PC's personality, and various other quirks.

I would download the players guide for wotr and see how the background trait works with yours and modify as needed. The background trait for wotr is one that I'd recommend taking and working with.

Mechanically, Pitborn tieflings are perfect for paladins. If you are going for a major Atoner vibe, tieflings can fit that. Just need to know from now on you need to be PERFECT, as others would view a tiefling paladin as easily corruptible.

With a very disappointed great-great-great grandparent lurking somewhere in the Abyss, just waiting for his Darth Vader moment..

I actually do have the players guide and i have been working on it. I have most of the stuff on their solid, and at this point I have figured out a lot of what i was trying to do.

But yeah, thanks for the advice, it actually was helpful in the past few hours creating this ridiculous backstory. I appreciate the input
