Active Deities

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I have a campaign idea for a ways down the road that would likely involve active, personal deities. And even if it is not a campaign that is based around this, it is something I would like to see more of in different campaigns... You pray or sacrifice, you get a boon... you offend a deity, you are smote. Be a particular champion of the ideals of a deity, or the deity itself, the deity appears and interacts with the PC's. To me the ways things are it seems like they are just the sources for some classes magic and occasionally one of them turns up dead.

I was wondering, do any of you play like this, had campaigns like this? How has it turned out for you?

Didn't the Time of Troubles period of Forgotten Realms kind of play out like this?

I remember there being a 'What's New' with Phil and Dixie that dealt with this. What happens when the 'god' makes himself too common. is you lose the 'mystery'. We once had a 'Thors-day night poker game' with...wait of it...Thor! Well, Thor, Loki, Apollo and Agni as regulars, really got old after a short time.

Dot.

The campaign would be that some of the deities bring the characters to attempt the Test of the Starstone... If I would put the time into it it could lead into one or another campaigns, I believe I would have to use the mythic rules.
