Pleaze make it easier to find which factions are involved in which scenarios, a sticky would be great.

I am having trouble signing up for games because the scenario blurbs and product pages do not clearly state which factions are related to each scenario.

For example, 5-03 seems to imply both Cheliax since it mentions Hellknights in the title and silver. Crusade since it mentions them and their faction leader. Who would be the third? Are.my first wo guesses even correct?

Having to go Search through old email that we.never have gotten in the first place if new to the society or a particular faction is not the best solution. We might not even have.such an email anymore. Please make a.sticky where we can.easily and quickly look up what matches up.

Lastly, I want to e,press my dislike for.this season's faction mission style. I feel like I have to. Choose between advancing my faction and having to play that fa tion regardless of class & level of other party members or forget about.advancing my preferred factions and just go with. Class/level of other party members in an effort to present a more role balanced party. People are sorely mistaken if they think it is easy to wAit for another running of a given scenario when your PC of those factions are in the right level range.

Thank you for your consideration.

I agree with making it easier to know which factions are involved in a scenario. Adding a line about it to the scenario description would be the obvious method.

Or you could just play which ever character is in the right level range and see if you stumble across a faction mission, I honestly cannot be bothered to waste time researching which of my PC's would be better suited faction wise to the current scenario, I would rather just play a PC who would be useful to the party.

Just because you don't care, it doesn't mean nobody does. If they're going to add this aspect to the game, they should expect players to want to make use of it. So that information needs to be easy to find. Currently, it's not.

Non-hypothetical example: I'll be playing Glass River Rescue tomorrow. I literally have 10 different PCs I could play in the 1-5 level range, with a variety at both tiers, and some overlapping roles.

Yes, I take party need into account when picking a PC to play, in the low level ranges where I have a choice of characters. But I also like to read the scenario blurbs to try and pick a character that goes well with the theme of the scenario. For instance, I won't bring a social/skill focused character to a pure dungeon crawl, or a hack and slash melee type with no social skills to The Blackros Matrimony. And knowing which factions apply to that scenario will now be part of that decision process.

It'd be great to see some faction emblems on the cover in the top left corner. Like a subtle little wink to the players and GM on the product page.

Glass River Rescue--Osirion, Grand Lodge, Qadira
Wardstone Patrol--Silver Crusade, Cheliax, Sczarni
Hellknight's Feast--Andoran, Taldor (don't be fooled by the title, Cheliax is not one of the factions)

Grand Lodge 1/5

Or, buy it first. GM it for a group. Find out that way!

I could not disagree more; I think it's a vast improvement.

I actually miss faction missions. They were my favorite part of PFS. Not that the system was perfect, but it really helped make a PC's faction a meaningful choice that came up every game.

And what percentage of PFS players do you think read the blog posts here? Or saved the email from Paizo with the same information?

On the other hand, the scenario blurbs that appear in every scenario's product page are frequently copied and pasted in their entirety to online signups for game days or conventions. And even when they're not, those product descriptions are the most obvious first place that every player will look if they come here to the Paizo web site looking for information on a scenario before playing it.

Putting this information on the product page for each scenario seems like such a simple and obvious step that I really don't know why it wasn't done right from the start.

I imagine that the intersection of 'people who read the PFS blog entries' and 'people who care about which factions have boons in each scenario' is quite high. It worked for the two scenarios at the end of season 4, at least.

The faction boon is a minor part of the scenario (from my sample of one), and doesn't justify mention in the blurb. It could even put players off if they're concerned that their PC of an unrepresented faction doesn't qualify to take part.

1. I do agree that more visibility on it would be an improvement.

2. The "boons" those factions get for the scenarios are so minor, I can't see getting bent out of shape for playing a scenario with the "wrong" character. Sorry Fromper, we can agree to disagree on that one.

3. Like Paz, I enjoy the new faction system WAY more than the previous faction missions. We are all pathfinders, and having faction "wars" between us proved more of a hindrance than a boon in quite a few occasions.

Silver Crusade 4/5

Paz, I disagree that people who care about this stuff all read the blogs here. And the faction ending stuff over the summer really doesn't prove anything. There was a LOT of word of mouth on those at the local gaming stores, and in the announcements about what scenarios would be played on which days, at least around here. Just about everybody locally knew about those, in a community with a fairly large base of regular players, and I can guarantee they didn't all come to this web site to find out. That was just a big enough change that everyone was spreading the word, which won't happen with these more minor faction missions.

CRobledo, I'm not getting bent out of shape about playing the "right" character in a scenario. Not having actually played/GMed any of season 5 yet, other than the GenCon special, I have no idea how major/minor the boons are, so I'll take your word for it that they're pretty minor. I'll see for myself in about 12 hours, when I get my chronicle for playing Glass River Rescue. But it is a factor to consider when picking which PC to play, if there's a choice. I'm just saying that more visibility would be a good thing, especially since there's an easy and obvious place to put that information which isn't currently being used.

Thanks for the link.

I still think a society sub forum sticky regularly updated as new scenarios come out would be better. The blog post currently only cover the first 4 and having to search through multiple blog posts for a variety of scenarios is not optimum. I did do some searching for this info but could not find it before beginning this thread.

I really do not want to see my two beloved factions go in a year or more and feel I contributed to that because I felt forced to play a class/level for party balance instead of forwarding my faction goals by playing the right faction in the right scenarios. I also dread getting my or other PCs killed because players used low level PCs and had to play up to play their faction or not play at all.

....or you could go to the Scenario Page and look and see what factions are listed as having boons. I know the first 5 don't have it listed but the 2 new ones added yesterday look like this:

Pathfinder Society Scenario #5–06: You Have What You Hold (PFRPG) PDF

Paizo Publishing, LLC

A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 3–7.

As an act of retribution, an enemy of the society begins hiring river pirates to waylay Pathfinder boats bound for the crusader nation of Mendev. Unless the Pathfinders can track down the party responsible and put an end to their piracy, the raids may spell the doom of the society’s ambitions to the north.

Content in "You Have What You Hold" also contributes directly to the ongoing storyline of the Sczarni faction.

Written by Sean McGowan.

This scenario is designed for play in Pathfinder Society Organized Play, but can easily be adapted for use with any world. This scenario is compliant with the Open Game License (OGL) and is suitable for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game.

Emphasis mine.
