Craft me a race!

I'm looking to make a race for an archer fighter character. Granted, I do have to get it approved and all that from my DM..

I'm looking for a 10 point race, preferably something with some flair to it that isn't humanish. By that I mean something that has fur and paws rather than bare skin and feet.

I like to draw my characters and drawing humans and their ilk kinda just make me bored.


How about a Monkey Goblin? Make it more humanoid if you like, and ask your GM if you can use the tail to hang upside-down from a branch and shoot from branches, or just generally clamber of trees shooting.


Well, can't do the goblin.

But what I'm allowed to do is translate a second edition race over into pathfinder.

So I'm picking up Fox-Folk. I know there is kitsune, but I'm doing this alternate version of Lupin.

The stats are +2 dex -2 con +2 Wis

Fun. I recently made a half construct race for a magus build, and I've had a blast. It was more for flavor than functionality.

You might want to take the Nimble attacks racial trait (2 race points) so that you can take full advantage of melee weapons when you do get stuck in melee.

Darkvision is always a plus, as is low light vision.

I know it'll cost extra, but flexible stats (+2 on 2 different stats) can always be fun if you dont want to dump any stats.

The scavenger trait gives you bonuses on perception checks to find traps (might work with your definition). "constant spell like divination" could be useful(although that's an advanced trait, not normaly for creatures with less than 11 race points).

However, the innate danger sense cant be effectively reproduced. Not for a PC anyway.

The way I could see it is as so:

Nimble attacks (2)
Low Light vision (1)
Constant spell like divination (3)
Scavenger (2)
Skill training (1) : I'd go for perception and disable device

Total: 9 race points

Edit: made a little mistake, fixed it.

Everything else is free, unless you want to be able to learn all languages (Linguist is 1rp).

Well divination seems a little out there I think.

+perception +initiative I think would fit. In 2nd AdnD they had darkvision/infared and high senses

The trap in the thing is anything from an actual trap to an ambush. So I don't think Scavanger and Divination are quite good fits there.

Static bonus Feat works for Nimble attacks (Since nimble is an advance trait.. I really don't understand that. ><)

On a side note, I just noticed that Weapon Finesse no longer has a +1 bab to use it.

So what I'm looking at is this..

Static feat - Finesse (2)
Lowlight (1)
Darkvision(2)
Skill training: Perception/Acrobatics(1)
Fleetfooted(3)
Bite(1)
+2 Dex +2 wis -2 con


If your character is based on a canine creature, I would add this:

Strong Nose: A foxfolk qualifies for the Keen Scent feat as if he is an orc or half-orc.

It doesn't exist in the list but I'd rate this one at maybe 1 RP if that.

I wouldn't bother with Low-Light vision if you already have darkvision. Low-light vision never really seems to come up in games anyway. It sounds cool but application-wise but in practice even in situations where it ought to matter it tends to get overlooked.
