The archetype says:
"At 4th level, he suffers no penalties on attack rolls, can make attacks of opportunity while grappling, and retains his Dexterity bonus to AC when pinning an opponent or when grappled."
The rules for the Grappled condition say:
"A grappled creature is restrained by a creature, trap, or effect. Grappled creatures cannot move and take a –4 penalty to Dexterity."
Does the Tetori still get the -4 to Dex (a -2 to AC)?
I don't see what benefit this aspect of the Tetori monk grants unless it means that the Tetori does not take the -4 penalty to Dex.

I guess, by the OP's archetype quote, that a 4th level Tetori with the grappled condition would not lose any of their Dexterity Bonus to AC when they take the -4 to Dex, but that any other penalties from the loss of the Dex (Initiative score, Reflex save, hit if they are finessing, etc.) would still apply

The table on page 195 of Core was previously printed with a footnote indicating that the grappled person lost their Dex bonus to AC. It has been fixed in a later printing (and in the FAQ).
So you used to lose your dex bonus to AC and take a -4 penalty to dexterity when grappled? And now you just take the -4 penalty to dexterity? Is that correct?
If so, it would seem that the Tetori still takes the -4 dexterity penalty when grappled by the rules. (This could be houseruled. Since this is the Rules forum, however, there's no reason to discuss it further.)

You used to be caught up in a rules contradiction, since the glossary never said anything about losing Dex to AC (AFAIK). The contradiction has been resolved in the glossary's favor. Yes, you just take the -4 to dex. Even if you're a tetori, I guess.

I concur. It is something that could probably use another look from the design team (FAQ candidate, etc.) but for now it stands that the -4 penalty to dexterity applies to all, including the Tetori.
Who knows which way the design team would rule on this one...
