I'm bouncing around 2 ideals for a PFS Paladin character with 1 level dip into another class.
It is based on this Mercenary General miniature.
I like both builds and need input and suggestions to make a decision on which one to play.
Any advice and comments on which build is more suitable for PFS is welcome.
*My 3rd ideal is a Magus, but I'm not too crazy about the lower saves, lower BAB and lower AC. Kinda like the spells...
The 2 different builds are:
FIRST Build: Str Paladin w/ 1 lv of Oracle of Lore
A sword and board or two handed weapon build.
Places ability scores in Str and Cha, this paladin uses Oracle of Lore's sidestep secret and dumps Dex.
Pros:
1) 3 Ability Scores focus, Str/Cha/Con
2) Uses high Cha for AC, Reflex AND Saves
3) High AC from Medium or lighter armor + Shield
4) Able to be a placebo knowledge Monkey via Focused Trance Revelation (spending feat)
5) Some extra heals per day and access to Oracle’s spell list via wands and scrolls.
Cons:
1) Can’t fight Air targets
2) VERY Dismay Initiative (7 in Dex)
3) Weaker than average CMD (due to Dex dump)
OR
SECOND Build: Dex Paladin w/ 1 lv of Dawnflower Dervish Bard
Pros:
1) 3 Ability Scores focus, Dex/Cha/Con
2) Dervish Dance feat (Uses Dex for Attack and Damage if using Scimitar 1 handed.
3) Battle Dance - With only 1 lv of Bard, thats like 6 rounds a day
4) Weak placebo knowledge Monkey via Bard
5) Good Initiative (High Dex)
6) Able to actually Fly under the effects of a Fly spell. Aka, can take on Air units with help.
Cons:
1) Much Lower AC due to being restricted to Light Armor
1a) No shields
2) Lower Damage due to 1 hand scimitar restriction
3) Weaker placebo knowledge Monkey then Lore Oracle
4) more MAD compared to Lore build
5) Sarenrae Worship requirement

You could take noble scion of war to get cha for initiative, but I personally would take a 2h str build instead. If you're really worried about survivability then you can optimize LoH a bit: fey foundling, greater mercy, and a race with a favoured class bonus that boosts LoH (tiefling is the best but I don't know if those are allowed in pfs).

Tieflings are a legal race in PFS. (You used to need a race boon, but that's no longer the case.)
