Anything in particular that is currently needed role wise to fill with the merchant guild slots?

We currently have an Archer Inquisitor with Large cat companion (this character), a Constitution Focused Witch, and a Barbarian. We may have a person the witch knows IRL join with a bard.

It is up to you. We just had a pvp battle so be prepared to fight some min maxed enemy PCs. There is also a lot of RP with skills, especially bluff, stealth, and disguise. It is a great campaign. Good luck to you and whoever else applies!!! Almost any class is allowed!

Synthesist Summoner
Urban Ranger
Master Summoner
Fighter
Vivisectionist Alchemist

*These are some of the classes that come to mind. The most important thing is roll a character you can see yourself enjoying and role playing in the campaign. The GM fleshes the world out very well.

Just saw this.

Will have a look at the original thread.
Got one or two PC's ready to go.

Hey Str! I am looking forward to your submission. I miss being in a campaign with you.

Will start taking a look at submissions over the weekend here. Expect to make a decision either Tues or Wed of next week. The current active party will get a fair bit of say in this.

Well, for PvP with other groups that look to be quite minmaxed, the quickest thing I can think of is either a Debuff Focused Hexcrafter Magus.

Adds some utility and Arcane Melee power
or
a Dwarf Witchunter Inquisitor with ANGER inquisition for Mega Saves and RAGE+Bane+Judgement awesomeness.

Posting some chars for the GM merchant group perusal.

Here is the magus.

Varrel focuses on either Debuffing via slumber or evil eye or uses a Rime Frostbite spell+ Enforcer feat to drop Entangled, Fatigued and Shaken on foes he hits (-5 to their hit among other things)
Plus his level in non lethal damage.
The Enforcer+ non lethal spell bit requires a GM ruling. Some are cool with the scimitar delivery of the spell, some aren't

Or if he wants to drop direct damage he does the crit fishing Shocking Grasp bit with his Scimitar.

Duncan needs to drop a few levels.

But the idea is to combine RAGE (at level 8), judgement, Divine Favor for melee awesomeness.

He would wield a Greatsword and Destructive smite the crap out of foes.

His dwarven Racial bonus to spells is +5
Combined with high fort/will and the KNOWLEDGEABLE DEFENSE power from Witchunter archetype for HUGE saves.

Grand Lodge

minor change to my bard submission: going to be human instead of catfolk and the extra feat + changing the weapon focus will net => weapon finess and phirania strike

PVP is an aspect, but a small aspect. Make sure you are happy with your characters' personality and skills. It is 50% RP, 30% skills/PVE, 20% pvp.

Str-I like both your characters. You will need to pick and finalize the builds to 6th level and add a backstory that fits. (I know you are waiting for a ruling on the scimitar)
Algar- nice build. Have you read the world and thought of a backstory? RP is a big part of the campaign.
Lantzkev-you still interested?

Please have you characters finished by Tuesday so the GM can check them for accuracy.

It looks like the witch's RL friend posted a character concept in the original recruitment thread.

Grand Lodge

yes i did in parts.

this bard is actual very polyvalent. lots of skills for social / sneaking around.

very decent in a fight, and great when you are having the drop on things.

the combination of high disguise + spellsong and sugession :)

Well looking at the bard submission- that will provide some additional arcane spellcasting. Plus despite having no inspire courage (getting Battle dance instead) he can still cast Good Hope on everyone.

I think perhaps Duncan would be my preferred submission.
RAGE is a morale bonus to STRENGTH
Good hope is a Morale Bonus to Attack and Damage.

Between the straight Barb, a rage inquisitor, Dawnflower Dervish you would have a fairly smashy group creating freedom for the Archer and Witch to cast in peace.

No dedicated cleric but between 2 inquisitor’s and the witch healing is covered.

Varrel on the other hand is more a switch hitter between Hexes and Melee.

Your Barb might prefer him to another Rager.

I could go with either one (provided the DM is cool with the Scimitar delivery of an Enforcer Rime Frostbite)

Let me know who you prefer and I'll adjust the char sheet and get some background. With family today so not on much.
Soon as I have some indication on joining I'll hop to it.

Backstory:

Cormick Egerton (Human Bard)
Back Story:
Cormick Egerton was born to a family of wealth and position in Coran. The Egertons are proud supporters of the Mageocracy and have made their wealth through their import/export business of exotic goods and legal magical items. As the second son, it was arranged for Cormick to attend the Tower of Heaven and one day join the Mageocracy.

While Cormick did show an aptitude in the use of magic, the lessons and training did not fit with his understanding of how magic should be used. Realizing that classwork and grades would soon begin to show his lack of understanding, he turned to other means to hide his problem. Using techniques he had seen his father and uncle use in negotiations, Cormick developed his skills of diplomacy, reading people and stealth to gain his needs. A magic scroll he could sneak into a class, a magic item with a specific cantrip, shift the instructor’s attention to someone else and on rare occasions steal a spell from another student. (The begins of becoming a Bard, Sandman Archetype.)

Well Cormick wasn’t as smart as he thought himself to be and was found out in his 2nd year of training. Expelled from the Tower and sent home in shame, he was not received with welcoming arms from his family. His father nearly disowned him, but Cormick was able to convince him to send him to one of the smaller kingdoms to the west to work at the family’s Import/Export House.

Cormick has returned home to Coran after learning of his father’s failing health. It has been 15 years since he last set foot in Coran. His brother Sebastian Egerton has taken over the family business in all but name. Sebastion has arranged for Cormick to temporarily take over the daily workings of the Import/Export House, while he attends to his father.

Future Character Growth:
Because Cormick has been gone for 15 years he is not known in Coran, but he has a very useful background for the Merchant Guild to use. He is being groomed by the Guild to become a spy (Master Spy Prestige Class).

Sczarni

I've been debating it, honestly if I did this I'd want to run a character using the pain taster prestige class...

Nice build and backstory Cormick.

I agree Str ranger. I really like the inquisitor. I almost went dwarf for the delicious saves.

Sorry for the delay, got called in to work Saturday.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding what you are asking with this. Can you clarify?

If it is merely can you attack with the scimitar to deal non-lethal while also dealing lethal from the spell, I have no problem with that.

@STR Ranger, Varrel could work well with some tweaks to the back story. Slavery is illegal in the empire, but there are still some private owners of slaves who haven't been discovered. Though at the point you entered the story you would need to have escaped from or slain your master.
You haven't posted a back story for Duncan.

@Algar, your profile has a 'Back of Algar' spoiler in it, but it is empty. Not sure if that was supposed to contain your back story or not.

@Cormick, looks good.

@lantzkev, a pain tester would be an interesting addition. It would be easy to tie in the basis of the character going through torture into the thieve's or Coran as there are drow among them.

Just a note for all, I'm currently more interested in the back stories than I am the stat blocks, though I understand that sometimes building the stat blocks helps visualize the character (it helps me when I build characters).

Grand Lodge

Esther is the first born of Alick Al Mourat and for a long time she was the only child of the wealthy merchant.

Her father worked very hard to become a key player in the gem business. He was a rather distant parent to Ester wishing he had a son instead. No matter how hard she tried to please him it worked to no avail. The situation got somewhat worse when many years later he finally had what he desired. But that time she was almost a grownwoman, who had trained in many different ways.

Seizing the opportunity she actually bid her leave on the state purpose to oversees activities in Issus Hold. There while using the cover of her job as Assistant Branch Manager she indulged herself in the darker part of business and the city. Theft, spying, business conspiracy, pure adventuring and exploration fun, even fighting an evil cult centered on unlife, while making somewhat a name for herself as a decent theater actress and Superb Songstress.

Everyone in a while the branch manager would call on her to negotiate important contract, to go retrieve important documents from the competition or just to deliver payments or particularly important gems.
Over the past 5-6 years the Mourat Consortium took an almost monopolistic situation.

At the merchant Guild request the Mourat Consortium has sent an operative in order to work for the common interest. What better way to send a strong message to the competition then a highly skilled agent: Ester

Life was rather good for Ester. But all this change about 6-7 weeks ago when word send from her mother (that she deeply loves) that her father was missing and that an accident has fallen on her younger brother. His legs shattered he was a vulnerable teenager. Her mother insisted that esther came back since her younger brother brilliant business mind and gentle nature would not help him during this crisis of leadership of the Mourat consortium.

Her mother needed esther to come back in order to both protect her brother and to act in his place.

Listening to her mother's plea she traveled back to Coran under an assumed name. Now a few days has past and she is back in the city. Both to protect the acting general manager with his board of advisers and to find out more of what is going on.

So when the Merchant Guild put in a request of an agent representing the Mourat Consortium all three agreed that she would be the one sent. After all it would be a sign of strength to the competition to send a strong operative.

I am gonna withdraw my submissions guys.

Work is pretty hectic at the moment and it would be irresponsible to take on another game at the moment.

Thanks for your consideration.

No problem STR.

Background looks good Algar.

Grand Lodge

glad you like it :)

With only two people taking an interest that makes the decision easy.

Cormick and Ester (Algar) feel free to start posting in the discussion thread for the game.

With both of you choosing bards if one of you wants to swap to a different class that is fine too. Though you are both different archetypes so your class choice is not a complete overlap.

Grand Lodge

Well i felt a bard would be much more at ease with a mercantile background :)

although we do overlap in skill. I'll think it over during the day and decide by tonight about class but yes i might consider a different venue. while keeping the same back story

@ GM Ascension: Thank you. I'm looking forward to this and have heard good things from Cindy Lu. He talks about the game at lunch quite often. It is humorous that we both choose bards as our class.

@ Algar: I'll hold off making any changes until you have made your decision on class. I don't have a problem changing either, but you offered first so wanted to give you the time to decide. Two bards would be fun as we would most likely approach problems from different angles.

Grand Lodge

go for it. i am working on the different something
