So I'm applying for a game, and right now, I've got an odd set of rolls (which I may be able to improve if I get some good fluff written for the character).
Str: 10
Dex: 11
Con: 16
Int: 12
Wis: 13
Cha: 14
It can be any race as long as it was published by Paizo. Lastly, there are a number of custom campaign traits I must choose one from, and here they are:
Most Noble Order of the Exalted March:
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to Diplomacy, Knowledge (nobility), and Knowledge (religion); one of these is a class skill for you. Furthermore, your service to the Order earns you an annual stipend (You receive an additional 250gp in starting funds).
Precarious Pathfinder:
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to Bluff, Disguise, and Stealth; one of these is a class skill for you. Furthermore, various Pathfinder contacts, safe houses, and sympathizers remain abroad throughout the region, and can be depended upon to grant asylum and aid to fellow members of The Society who find themselves in dire straits.
Aspis Opportunist:
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to Disable Device, Knowledge (dungeoneering), and Perception; one of these is a class skill for you. Furthermore, you have been given honorary citizenship in Molthune (which allows you to travel freely) as well as an assurance that your badge will carry considerable weight when dealing with authorities.
Rud’s Wastewares:
Benefit: You receive a +1 trait bonus to Craft (alchemy), Knowledge (engineering), and Profession (soldier or engineer); one of these is a class skill for you. Furthermore, Firearms fall under the Commonplace Guns rule for you.
Nirmathi Sympathizer:
Benefit: You receive a +2 trait bonus to Bluff and Diplomacy; one of these is a class skill for you. Furthermore, as a member or staunch ally to the Nirmathi Underground, you are privy to multiple caches and safe-houses that can be utilized in times of need.
So, thoughts?

Aspis Opportunist & Precarious Pathfinder seem to be the better choices. The others may net you a little gold or some decent gear (possibly...) but the Aspis Opportunist will probably give you access to some useful places and get you out of trouble possibly.
The Precarious Pathfinder may help with getting that extra needed help and a safe haven if certain issues arise. But I'd probably pick this one second.

You're not going to have a tremendous amount of skill-points, so that aspect of the traits isn't going to be terribly useful. Since you can't bluff worth a damn, go for Aspis Opportunist: not needing to roll Bluff to get away with "Actually, we ARE allowed to be here covered in blood!" will be of great use. Particularly since, as a Scarred Witch Doctor, you're going to look a little odd.

Well a Melee character would be a bit behind the curve but still could be done for RP purposes. Personally I would go with an Idyllkin Aasimar (+2con/+2cha) or Azata Aasimar (+2dex/+2cha) to pump Cha up since it's your best stat (besides con).
You could also go with a halfling or gnome if you'd prefer a smaller race. I'd play an Oracle, picking whatever curse that adds the flavor you're looking for (Blood of Angels has the Blackened and Wolfscarred curses also. Probably Blackened would be more preferred than Wolfscarred though.)
You could also go with a Bard if you want to dabble in a little bit of everything. I find Oracle to be a pretty flexible class also that can either focus in great healing capabilities, decent crowd control, good offense (grab Fire Revelation and Blackened Curse) or a good buffer/debuffer.
EDIT: I guess the big question is what will the other players in the party be playing and what is needed. I don't really like the outside META-gaming of that but it does make sense that a party would employ people for what they are needing to round the party out. Then again, it's nice to sometimes have skills/classes that overlap.

Yeah, I like angels/aasimars personally but they got some good stuff going for them. Idyllkin gets a free Summon Nature's Ally II 1/day and 1 bonus language along with the nice stats. You'll have a lot of hp with the +2con, giving you +4hp per a level (extra 80hp once lvl 20, nothing to sneeze at.)
If you want offensive grab Flame Mystery (said it wrong earlier but just looked it up). That and Blackened will complement each other with all the fire spells and Burning Magic revelation to catch people on fire will dish out some good damage.
If you'd rather go defensive then Life Mystery, like you mentioned, would be great. Definitely a good way to boost your heals to be one of the strongest healers possible.
I'd also like to recommend Heavens and Nature Mysteries. Nature because you get an animal companion, can substitute your cha for your dex to your AC and CMD, and a few other nice revelations. I've heard people using Heavens mystery to great effect with color spray as it allows that level 1 spell to be useful lategame and has some other good revelations.
