Monk's Flurry of Blows with a Falchion or other crazy weapons?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

A friend mentioned that it is possible to extend flurry of blows to the use of a falchion. However I am not sure how that is possible.

The closest thing I can come up with would be dipping a level in cleric and then picking up "Crusader's Flurry". This would assume that there is a deity within one step of a Lawful alignment with the favored weapon falchion.

Is there a way to accomplish this, and if not, what would be the "best" weapon that can be attained that works with flurry of blows?

The sohei (monk archetype) can use flurry of blows with any weapon he has weapon training with. And the nodachi (esentially superior to falchion in nearly ever way) is classified as a polearm and thus usable with a sohei monk flurry.

As far as I know crusader flurry is the only way.. as far as best weapon any monk weapon with an 18-20 crit range works. You don't really get a lot out of the falchion as a monk.

As my fellow mouse of burden says, Crusader Flurry is the only way. Advantage is to any weapon with 18-20 threat range - so Sarenrae with a scimitar is just as good as a falchion.

Dervish Dance a Scimitar with Crusader's Flurry. Dex to damage means you need no STR. mod. Or have 6 levels of Sohei and flurry with any weapon you train with as Maezer said.

@Maezer:I think most people's attraction to the falchion is a higher minimum damage. I think the Greataxe is superior to both personally, but I would be inclined to agree on the nodachi.

Also, Maneuver Master's Flurry of Maneuvers isn't restricted to Monk weapons so you could use it to flurry with a whip, a scythe, or any other weapon you desire. Monk of the Empty Hand could flurry with any weapon as well, but treats them as improvised weapons with detailed directions on how to handle their damage. Additionally, there's a magic weapon Blade of the Sword Saint which gets the Monk property in addition to being a +3 ki intensifying Katana which can also be "employed as if the wielder were unarmed" meaning you can use the katana to deflect arrows or use any other ability that requires a free hand, so long as it doesn't involve holding an item in that free hand; you couldn't use it to catch and hold an arrow, but you could ricochet it back to mimic "catch and throw back".

Also, if you are a martial artist you need a deity that is within 1 step of any alignment, and if you have the enlightened warrior trait you need a deity within 1 step of N or NG to crusader's flurry. OR you could take a level of necromancer, have channel energy, and worship whoever you like. You don't normally have to be within 1 step of a deities alignment.
