Hi there!
I've been busy working on our campaign and thought that 3D-Models of ships, landscapes and sites might add extra flavor.
As you might know I have been building the wormwood to use it during the first twenty days on board and she has been sitting in the middle of the gaming table every time. One day I put her aside and my PC's were complaining about the removal and ordered me to put her back in place :-)
Wormwood
I realized that there has to be a second build for the Man's Promise and again the Paizo pdf's and maps were quite useful:
Wormwood vs Man’s Promise
As soon as they reach Bonewreck Island, they will cross the Mire
and of course the Castaway's Stockade of Aaron Ivy:
Stockade 1
Stockade 2
While the Mire was an easy build with a river piece from ebay (I pimped it with the wooden bridge, pebbles and bushes), the stockade is a new build.
I felt that the Aaron Ivy Encounter has to be one with a special flavor. There was an option in this Forum to play it with a living Aaron Ivy. Still dangling from the roof with a rope around his neck, but just pretending to be a dead man.
It's a fast build with a cardboard hill and a fence made from corrugated board and stripes of wood from a tangerines case to improve stability.
Well that's it for now

Very nice! I used to make a lot of 3D modeling for gaming, but the time and expense is more than I would put into something that I would make for just a one off. I prefer more multiple use boards, but ran out of storage room years ago. I agree the caves would be too much for a one shot. You might work on the Man's promise more as the players will spend a lot of time on that ship. There should be some nice opportunities for more terrain in part 2.

Thanks for sharing the pics - those are excellent! I'm especially fond of your execution of Wormwood vs Man's Promise. I was ambitioning to do something similar but don't think it will happen. I will have to show that pic to my group. They're actually running rounds 10-16 of Man's Promise tonight! A+

So you uses actual balsa wood for the decks? I have the files for the transparencies from Fat Dragon games, just need to get some transparency sheets. My main question was what size of dowels, 3/4"? I think I would use card or foam board rather than expensive balsa. I have plenty of both from old projects. I used to do some 3D terrain stuff, but my ISP threatened to shut me off when I started using Drop Box, go figure. I would have to use Google Docs or Photobucket to share.

I used cottonwood/poplar plywood and made the masts from beech wood (16mm).
I drilled the holes with a forstner drillhead (16mm too). It fits very neat. The 60mm high wall tiles are just to ensure proper distances between the decks.
Balsa is indeed expensive. The plywood is much cheaper. The biggest expense was the map pack $10 I glued on the plywood.
I hope that answers your questions...

I have done something similar with the wormwood, although less elegant. It would be cool to have a sort of prop library for gaming stuff, sign out the big Rubbermaid container for wormwood mutiny chapter 1 with minis, boats etc... Even a grooveshark playlist or something like it. It could have a checklist to redact with a minimal rental fee and a damage deposit. You would have to have a pretty large community to make it worthwhile.

I made a few things for Skull and Shackles.
The Stockade I had added a tree house built from ship parts. The tea lights were where the party set things on fire.
Jungle Ruins Side Quest I used a hook in one of the PC's back story and built a small set of ruins. I described it as a few buildings among a large group of ruins of a lost city. When they finished the looked at me and said, "We want to explore the rest of the lost city." This led to them doing 2/3rds of Book 3 of Serpent Skull before leaving the jungle.
