Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

So if you were a freshly minted Pirate Captain, set sail upon the inner-sea and you still had the love of your glorious nation of Taldor dear to your heart, who would you be keen on sinking?

Obviously Qadirans would be a likely prey, and those heathen Rahadoumi, but then who?

Cheliax, friends or foe?

What about those Varisians? is it true they start all the trouble?

Osirians sold one too many bad carpets?

Come on, you're a pirate. Everyone except Taldor is fair game. Watch out for those Grey Corsairs, though.

LOL yeah well, but just trying to be a terribly nice Pirate.

Like Erik was to the Vikings.

If you are a friend of Taldor, then you surely wish you make life for the Chelish miserable.

Cheliax is the usurper in the eyes of a Taldan. Not only that, but they've thrown their lot with devils!

Qadira is the only thing worse to Taldor than Cheliax, and thus raiding them would do well for your reputation and such.

Rahadoum and Osirion are free game, but it's nothing personal. Trying to raid Absalom, Nex or Geb would be a very bad idea, but that goes without saying.

Yeah lets just sail around Absalom, Nex or Geb.

Cheers guys :)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I'd be wary of Gebbite ships in particular if I were on that ship myself.

Undead do not need to breathe, so sinking their ship would just irritate them.

Nothing worse than having your own ship overrun by a crowd of angry ghouls if you ask me.

You definitely do not want to be arrested for piracy by Gebbite marines and put in front of an Admiralty Court presided over by the Blood Lords. The Punishment is rather severe to say the least.

In addition, remember that Geb grows a lot of the grain that is consumed by places like Nex and other Garundi nations. If you are captured for piracy and are known to have attacked Gebbite trading vessels, the Nexians might just hand you over to the Gebbites for punishment as a gesture of goodwill.

One thing I'd do Shifty, is consider being a Privateer, rather than a Pirate.

Bonus if you can get a charter from Taldor and a rival (Qadira) or one of those upstarts (Cheliax, Andoran). You just hoist whatever colours you find best suited.

Now that is a little naughty Matthew.

And yes, Gebbites seem to be a little bit humourless when it comes to petty larceny.

Oh if I was a pirate I'd make a number of fake documents just to sow confusion.

"Don't ye go insultin' my honour, your lordship! These papers say I'm a legal agent of Cheliax."

Two weeks later.

"We're freeing these slaves! We're for Andoran!" (sure we're selling them ourselves later...)
