Building a Rival (gang)

Advice

I am currently playing an elf gunslinger in a campaign ran by my friend. Recently however; he asked about my characters backstory, the jist of it is he was run out of the town he lived at by a rival gang of thugs. As a result he's missing part of his left ear, and has scars up and down his body from the resulting fight.

The problem is I'm not sure who or what would be in this gang, so I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Well, not much to work with there. You could always watch a gang-themed movie.

Most of the gang members are likely going to be human or halfling warriors, sprinkled with rogues and maybe someone with a fighter level or two. Clerics and wizards are unlikely, but oracles or sorcerers working for gangs have some literary precedence. Also perhaps an alchemist or summoner.

Also, elves are not usually "gang-material", in most fantasy settings, unless they were doing it as some sort of strange lark. Near-immortal beings aren't typically so petty to stoop to banditry.

Of course, they usually don't pack guns either, so you do what you want :)

Well I really wanted something different, and its because you don't see Elf Gunslingers is why I wanted to play it, and the gang doesn't need to be human per say. Maybe I'm just looking to bounce some ideas.

Perhaps a Pale Stranger, or Orcs, or maybe a half dragon tiefling needed something in the town lol

any group of tugs could be a gang thief's guild, some highwaymen pretty much any group of none-good-doers

Grand Lodge

Where is this gang?
