Greetings all.
Whilst reading rotr #4 a little tibit caught my eye, that being of speckled white dragons. Is there any more info regarding these extremely rare occurances as I am quite interested in learning more about them. I'm assuming they are like the black sheep of whites to put it in a way especially if sages are correct in that they are the good aligned counterpart of whites. Pity there are none that live past a few months though.

Hmm oh well. It should be a good project to work on, at least I don't have to worry much about background inconsistancies.
I was thinking also of having try get one to actually survive past its first few months and continue to develop itself until it has the power to properly survive the harsh conditions of the world around him. He'll be chaotic but good of heart and just wants to prove himself to the world. He'll have to learn how to polymorph properly before he bothers interacting with non-evil folk as they will just regard him as another white and try to kill him on sight regardless of if he shows he means no harm to them.
Yes this should be fun.

In the Campaign I'm running for My GF, they have a speckled dragon they rescued from another dragon that was hunting it.
("Pebble" survived because his coloration didn't show up immediately and when it did, he managed to fly away...for a while.)
Keeping it's presence secret from other dragons and the general populace has been one of the ongoing plot hooks.
The PC's don't know much about what a speckled dragon means yet, but they know its different and that other chromatics would kill Pebble if they knew.
We even had a paper mini made to go along with the rest of the party

But overall, I think it's just a little hook for GMs to use.
I read the article to imply that speckled dragons were not inherently evil and that's why the chromatics wanted to kill them. A good chromatic could cause all sorts of trouble and upset their god...

Cool Gigglestick, definately an interesting concept. Mabye another way for it to survive and grow is for it to fall under the tutorage of a metallic like a lazakh white? Mabye it falls under a Brass or Bronze's wing and is tutoted in the academic or socialogical arts? The mentor will soon come to see he is different from other whites, he actually has a good heart and thus he will seek to mentor and protect the youth until he is strong enough to make it on his own.

Well, at first they wanted to take him to the dragon in the town southwest of Falcon's Hollow (I forget the towns name and if its a copper, brass, or bronze). But then they remembered that even HE paid homage to the great Red in the Mountains, so they decided to take Pebble with them. (They have an experimental gnome boat, so they have the room and they tend to collect odd NPCs...the ship's cook is a Bugbear and the party cleric of Shelyn is working on converting a Choker to the faith...yeah, the last two sessions were all RP and no combat....)
