If a player can see through fog, lets say Obscuring Mist, and he uses that spell on himself to surround himself with fog. Since he can see through fog can he sneak attack an enemy since they can't see him unless adjacent? (5ft away)
Just wondering if this would allow a player to gain the ability to sneak attack more frequently and if it's kosher for PFS play.

You can normally see through some of obscuring mist and fog in general but since it gives concealment, sneak attacks are not possible. Shadow strike gets around that.
If you have a special ability which completely negates fogs concealment then sneak attack away.
Without the "mist sight" ability one can still hiding in the fog then sneak out, so that the target is not in the fog, (and given that the target fails their perception checks), then the sneak attack is a go!

level 1: Oracle Wave Mystery with Water Sight Revelation.
then taking a ranged sneak attack class I should be able to cast obscuring mist on myself which enemies can't see me, and then shoot them for sneak damage.
That was the idea, which makes for a very powerful level 1 dip for a sneak attack based class.
