So, Mythic Form of the Dragon (all) says:

Mythic Adventures pg.96 wrote:

The spell’s bonuses to ability scores increase by 2, the natural armor bonus increases by 1, and the breath weapon damage increases to 10d6. All of the dragon form’s natural attacks increase by one step (see Improved Natural Attack on page 315 of the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary).

Yet, for Form of the Dragon II and especially Form of the Dragon III, the 10d6 breath weapon would be a downgrade, not an increase.

Was it intended that the breath weapon stay static across all three Mythic versions of the spell, or is it supposed to increase on II and III?

The Exchange

Hm yeah I see the dilemma here. I am pretty happy with the Mythic book over all but little things like this keep popping up. I wonder if it is supposed to be increases /by/ not /to/.

I'm thinking the breath weapon would get bumped by that much. I saw that and initially though t that my Dragon Disciple would be very unhappy with those changes.

I'm thinking if I were to look at it and write it, I would bump the damage dice to add +1d8 per tier, line range by +10 ft/tier, cone by 5 ft/2 tiers, and increase the ability score increases on form 3 by +4 instead of +2. Similar changes for Elemental Body, Beast Form, and others.

Since it says increase to rather than change to, i do not think it will reduce damagw. Ibelieve it would change damage for dragon form 1 and 2 and not change for 3.

I definitely don't think it adds 10d6 to the base breath weapons, because that seems excessive. I suspect this is an error, and that the intent was to increase the damage by like 4 dice, or something, but I don't know. I can't imagine the intent was to give it a flat breath weapon progression.

I'm pretty happy with the rest of the spell effects, honestly - Augmented FotD III is like a +14 to Str and +12 to Con, so I'm okay with that.

It's really confusing to me, because usually when errors like this pop up, you can get a good idea of what the developers were intending. Here's it's just... confusing.

Increasing the damage by 10d6 is weird because then you're rolling d8s and d6s for damage, and it's an over double increase for the first version. The original wording makes no sense, because that means on average you have less damage on forms 2 and 3. I'm just really confused what the intent is here.

I'll probably just change it to increase damage by 4d8 or something.

My guess would be that 10d6 was intended for FotD 1, and they forgot to scale for 2 and 3. I would say 15d6 for 2 and 20d6 for 3

If you want to keep things consistent with the scaling of Form of the Dragon, it's really pretty straightforward. Standard Form I is 6D8. Mythic Form I grants 10D6. Mathematically, that's little different from 6D10 (2 damage lower on average). So, scale Form II to 8D10, or 10D8 if desired, and Form III to 10D10.

I asked that question a while back... no answer :(
