Hello,
I'm currently GM ing a Pathfinder game and the party is already level 5. The thing is most of them are not harcore gamers and really love the RP aspect of it and figuring out the mysteries, talking to characters and hearing their story.
While so far the inventory and feat/spell management was ok since they were low level , at lvl 5 they have quite a lot of items and spells and feats and i see they get frustrated with just keeping them written on their character sheets and paper and they forget what things do and we have to keep looking in the core rulebook before they do stuff since they forget. That's one of the main resons there is no inventory weight in my campaing since they were really really annoyed by it.
So, anyone has any advice on how to make everything as easy to use as possible? What do you use to keep track of items, what your character can do and learn what spells to cast?
DO you print little cards and such?
We tried to use a laptop but we didn't really have room for it on the table.

Hey.Thanks for the tips! The spell cards seem like a good idea. I already found a generator and gave them to our sorc to print the ones he wants to.
We don't really use any adventure paths so i guess i'd have to make the item cards myself since they are all custom made for the adventure with a specific flavor and stats.
And the excel isn't very good since we don't like to use a laptop on the table.

The simplest approach I've seen is to have a spare sheet representing your "spellbook" and another for your "equipment."
As for encumbrance... have you considered just looking at armor & weapons (the biggest contributors), plus a ballpark 10-15 pounds for 'everything else' to manage it on a very simple level? You don't want the Str 7 wizard toting around 500' of rope plus a cooking pot and collapsing ladder, but you also don't want to get bogged down in tracking every piton and flask of oil.
