Any way for a druid to gain Form of the Dragon?

Rules Questions

I know that Giant Form is available via a magical item (a mask) but draconic forms seem more elusive to get ahold of.

So apart from multiclassing into a level of bard/sorcerer and taking a few levels in the Dragon Disciple PrC (I kid), is there a viable way to do this at all?

Cheers

You could use the magic item creation guidelines to make a custom item if the DM is on board.

Dragonform Armor gives you Form of the Dragon 1 for 11 minutes per day, but it has a set dragon type.

...or there's scrolls of it for 1650 per but yeah probably don't want that route unless your druid is also incredibly wealthy.

Isn't there a way to get into Dragon Disciple off of a divine casting class if you're a kobold, or is that cleric only? If it works off druid you get draconic bloodline bonus spells known which include the FotD spells. You still have to swap out of druid, though.

There are a few races that give a 1st level SLA that might qualify you for Dragon Disciple now that I think about it (if a 1st level arcane is specifically needed and a higher wouldn't qualify). Dhampir, Fetchling, Ifirit, Slyph, Undine, duergar, Samsaran, Svirfneblin, or Wayang: if you happen to be one of those you could be good to go if you really wanted Dragon Disciple... though it would be a pretty bad idea.

The only way I know of is the Dragon subdomain of the Scalykind domain, which Druids don't get the options to take normally. :(

Dragon subdomain

Druids get Shapechange, which allows them to take any of the dragon form spells. So they can turn into a dragon, they just don't directly have access to those spells.

One of the major reasons people were disappointed about the dragon shaman druid archetype was that it didn't actually let you do what it was supposed to: "Your totem is the legendary dragon, fearsome and deadly yet cunning and wise, a creature born of pure magic and raw elemental fury, bound within a shell of fangs, claws, and scales that few dare to challenge. Though your initial focus is on dragons' mundane cousins, as your powers grow you become attuned to actual dragons." Instead of what was implied by the description, the focus is on lizards; the "attuned to actual dragons" just adds +1d6 of energy damage to your bite attack.

Personally, I would have replaced the elemental body and plant shape wildshape options for a dragon shaman with form of the dragon I at 10th, form of the dragon II at 12th, and form of the dragon III at 14th.

Scaled Disciple

Humand and Aasimars(with Scion of Humanity) can take Racial Heritage(Kobold) to use it with Cleric, Inquisitor, Druid, Oracle, and, I think, Ranger with a specific archetype.

Ah, looks like it's meant to be oracle/inquisitor only, though the term spontaneous is used of cures or inflicts for clerics and SNA for druids.

Funnily enough, this is what my DM and I've been trying to do. Although we've agreed that we probably won't go up as high as FotD III (too strong to be used so often, in our opinions) and even then, would only last a number of minutes equal to the druid level possessed.

In return, I don't have to choose the Dragon Shaman archetype which I don't want to take.

Since it's gonna be a lvl 15 campaign we decided not to bother with the level we get the forms either. I think 12/16 would've been a nice breakoff point, perhaps gaining FotD III at level 20 replacing the unlimited WS even.

Anyhow, that's how it happened folks and thanks again for your help :D
