2) I have to see at least 1 texan historical site
3) I need one authentic texas souvenir for my trip.1) Tex-mex

Yup.
Alas, the Alamo is pretty far from Houston.
The greatest Texas cultural meal would be a trip to Cooper's Barbecue in Llano. Again, though, it's a fair pace from H-Town. If confined to the city, the brisket at Luling City Market on Richmond Ave is, inexplicably, better than at the original City Market in Luling.

I think the meal should be at the Armadillo Palace, because Demon Longhorn Armadillo.
That could be arranged Jess. Also I am sure there is at least one historic site in the Houston area.
7 days until departure. Residence secured, job interviews affirmed.

1. Texan cultural meal, you has CHOICES! a) Steak. We're a beef state, baby. b) Mexican/Tex-Mex. You can't throw a stick without hitting a place that serves fajitas and beer. c) Barbeque, because if you do somehow manage to miss, you will surely hit a pit with a brisket smoking away inside.
2) The San Jacinto monument and Battleship Texas park is pretty cool. And of course, there's this little organization called NASA, you might have heard of them.
3) The battle flag suggestion is good. Or maybe some beer glasses from the Saint Arnold's brewery.

We opted for the townhouse, it's proximity to her work, and the kids school, and the free after school care provided will be worth the $200 more a month we have to pay. With three kids childcare is costly as all get out, and that helps a ton.
Plus I am not an apartment person, I'll be happier with a little more room between me and too many other humans.

A zombie, a wolf, and a rampaging kaiju enter the bar... Now only in Houston!
I have to admit, it's kinda nice being able to have FAWTLies over for lunch or dinner on a Sunday afternoon.
And it's a little late, but a big thank you to the zombie, the wolf, and Jess for being there to help us get moved in, you guys made it a lot easier.

I'm dying to visit again, if nothing else to hit Pho 1 for lunch and Fogo de Chao for dinner... and maybe a snack at Katz's Deli. Man does not live by hoagies alone!
