Ok then I have a list of demands.

1) I have to eat at least one purely texan cultural meal
2) I have to see at least 1 texan historical site
3) I need one authentic texas souvenir for my trip.

1) Tex-mex

2) Alamo
3) Gonzales battle flag

Yup.

Alas, the Alamo is pretty far from Houston.

The greatest Texas cultural meal would be a trip to Cooper's Barbecue in Llano. Again, though, it's a fair pace from H-Town. If confined to the city, the brisket at Luling City Market on Richmond Ave is, inexplicably, better than at the original City Market in Luling.

I think the meal should be at the Armadillo Palace, because Demon Longhorn Armadillo.

That could be arranged Jess. Also I am sure there is at least one historic site in the Houston area.

Scarab Sages

Mmmmm.......armadillo.

1. Texan cultural meal, you has CHOICES! a) Steak. We're a beef state, baby. b) Mexican/Tex-Mex. You can't throw a stick without hitting a place that serves fajitas and beer. c) Barbeque, because if you do somehow manage to miss, you will surely hit a pit with a brisket smoking away inside.

2) The San Jacinto monument and Battleship Texas park is pretty cool. And of course, there's this little organization called NASA, you might have heard of them.

3) The battle flag suggestion is good. Or maybe some beer glasses from the Saint Arnold's brewery.

We opted for the townhouse, it's proximity to her work, and the kids school, and the free after school care provided will be worth the $200 more a month we have to pay. With three kids childcare is costly as all get out, and that helps a ton.

Plus I am not an apartment person, I'll be happier with a little more room between me and too many other humans.

And more importantly, no THREE flights of stairs for the move in. :-)

I have to admit, it's kinda nice being able to have FAWTLies over for lunch or dinner on a Sunday afternoon.

And it's a little late, but a big thank you to the zombie, the wolf, and Jess for being there to help us get moved in, you guys made it a lot easier.

A zombie, a wolf, and a rampaging kaiju enter the bar... Now only in Houston!

What is happening in Houston this holiday season?

Snow, hopefully. Childbirth, definitely.

Ha, Freehold! Your M.A.R.S. Industries Weather Dominator penetrated FaWTLexas' defenses, but Florida remains largely untouched... protected by our Cobra-La Chaos Shield. Do not try again this winter, or I shall taunt you a second time!

Houston only gets snow every 5th year. The last time was 2009 so we're good for another year. (2004 was my fault, I think. I brought my parents down to meet my in-laws so they brought it along with them.)

Scarab Sages

Yeah, but does it stick? For me, snow only counts if it's still around after one week.

Scarab Sages

Or if I have to get out and shovel it, but that shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Is HD in Houston these days?

How about the LPM and family?

Scarab Sages

Yes, and yes.

Shadow Lodge

Perhaps one day, I shall visit again.

I'm dying to visit again, if nothing else to hit Pho 1 for lunch and Fogo de Chao for dinner... and maybe a snack at Katz's Deli. Man does not live by hoagies alone!

Well, I don't see getting to Houston before I go back to the Springs.

Merry Christmas!

I expect to be back in south Texas around February.

We really should have a FAWTL get together some time. :)

Indeed. I keep telling myself to get in touch with Jess and the Moore's about a get together, then life smacks me in the head with a 2x4.

It's understandable. New babies tend to take priority. :)
