Whip / Flail + Steal / Drag + Dueling weapon (PFS version)

The Dueling Magic weapon special ability from page 50 of the Pathfinder Society Field Guide says that it's bonus does not apply to steal or drag combat maneuvers. It also says that the bonus only applies to combat maneuvers that involve the weapon.

Does that mean that the exception for steal and drag is just because you usually cannot use your weapon for these two maneuvers? And if you are using a whip or flail which *can* be used for drag (in the case of both) and steal (in the case of whip) you *do* get the bonus?

It specifically lists which combat maneuvers it works with and which ones it does not work with. That's it.

In this case, it states that you cannot use this bonus for steal and drag maneuvers. Period.

This is for the luck bonus granted by the Dueling ability only.

The normal weapon enhancement bonus would be used whenever the weapon was used, which could be the steal/drag maneuvers potentially.

Dueling (Melee Weapon Special Ability)

A dueling weapon bears magical enhancements that makes
it particularly effective at performing certain combat
maneuvers. When a dueling weapon is used to perform a
combat maneuver that utilizes the weapon only (see below),
it grants a luck bonus equal to twice its enhancement
bonus on the CMB check made to carry out the maneuver.
The dueling weapon also grants this same luck bonus to
the wielder’s CMD score against these types of combat
maneuvers. These combat maneuvers include disarm and
trip maneuvers, but not bull rush, grapple, or overrun
maneuvers. If you’re using the additional combat maneuvers
in the Advanced Player’s Guide, this also includes any
dirty trick maneuvers that utilize the weapon, as well as
reposition combat maneuvers, but not drag or steal combat
maneuvers. Note that this luck bonus stacks with the
weapon’s enhancement bonus, which in and of itself adds to
CMB checks normally.

It is odd. It is treu that normally the only maneuvers that uses a weapon are trip, disarm and sunder. But there are plenty of ways to make the otehr maneveurs with weapons.

Shield slam for bull rush, hamatula strike for grapple, and weapons like whips and flails.

Seems to me that hte intention was to give the bonus to any combat maneuver that can be usde with weapons but since is a PFS question you are probably out of luck.

It seems that the intention was to provide bonuses to maneuvers that might be used in a one-one-one swordfight type situation. Dueling, in other words. So reposition has the correct sort of 'flavour' for this, but drag and steal no so much.
