Incredibly specific question about cracked ioun stones from seekers of secrets.

Rules Questions

So, in Seeker of Secrets, there are cracked Ioun stones. Some of them give you bonuses to a stat based skill.
For example; The cracked Deep Red Sphere Ioun stone gives +1 to a dexterity based skill.

I was wondering if they stacked. Now, I know that they wouldn't stack for the same skill; if Ioun stones could stack the same bonus, that would be REALLY STUPID with the cracked dusty rose prism Ioun stone, which gives you +1 init for 500 gold.

So, can I buy and use 3 cracked Deep red Sphere Ioun stones as long as I use them for different skills?

E.G. I pay 600 gold and get +1 to disable device, +1 to acrobatics, and +1 to stealth?

Can you wear boots of elvenkind (+5 to Acrobatics, a Dex skill), cloak of elvenkind (+5 to Stealth, a Dex skill), and a vest of escape (+6 to Escape Artist, a Dex skill) at the same time?

(Answer: yes.)

It just seemed a little unbalanced that I can get like a total of +10 to various skills for 2000 gold...

Also it was clear that other types of stones don't stack, so I wasn't sure if it was the stones themselves that don't stack or that the abilities the stones give don't stack.

As long as they are bonuses to different skills and don't take up the same slot, they stack.

+1 to a skill is cheap, because skill bonuses are cheap and because of stacking rules.

+10 to a skill is not cheap.

So if you want to pay 1,400 gp for +1 to 7 Dex skills, that's fine. You could instead pay 4,000 gp for a belt of dexterity, get a +1 on all of those skills, and a +1 to your Ref save, your AC, CMD, and other Dex-derived stats.

Anyway, my point is... go for it. :)

Couldn't you spend less to just get masterwork tools (50gp) for each desired skill and get +2 to each?

If so, I don't think spend a large factor more for an additional +1 is particularly game-breaking. :)
