Product Discussion

Howdy.

Is there an adventure path that feels like an horror campaign? Is there any product that has details of Ustalav, or seems like the writer(s) read one too many Lovecraft stories? Perhaps something by James Sutter? :)

Thank you.

Thank you.

Carrion Crown is the AP you want. Carrion Hill is a Dunwich horror inspired module.

Also the Campaign Setting Rule of Fear, and I would recommend reading the Pathfinder Tales novel "Prince of Wolves" as it takes place in Ustalav and has a lot of great details.
And be sure to visit the Carrion Crown AP section in the messageboards.

Thank you gentlemen. This looks very promising.

Outside of Carion Crown and Carrion Hill, I suggest the Carnival of Tears and Feast of Ravensmore modules. Great horror feel.

The Exchange

As a side note, however, I've found that horror has more emotional impact when you drop a truly horrendous adventure into a campaign that isn't particularly focused on dread and gloom. Players kinda develop emotional scar tissue after a while. "Popped out of my torso, did it? Somebody kill this thing! And you! - bring me fifty feet of string, a needle, and a healer's kit!"

My players still talk about the Brown Basilisk Inn, precisely because the horror was unexpected and temporary (for the survivors).
