A question about Languages

Advice

Hi gang.

If I have an Aasimar, Wizard, Int 19, Linguistics 8, how many languages would I have been allowed at 1st level?

Shadow Lodge

You would have started with Common and Celestial from your race, and you would get to choose four bonus languages, due to your high Intelligence, chosen from the following list (based on your race and class):

Draconic
Dwarven
Elven
Gnome
Halfling
Sylvan

In addition, assuming you put a rank into Linguistics, you would have gotten one extra language from that, with the only restriction being that it can't be a "secret" language, such as Druidic.

To clarify, he means that you can learn one language among any in the Linguistics section, except for secret languages like Druidic. You can also learn any of the Golarion regional languages.

I thought as a Wizard you were allowed more language choices.

They are but its draconic.

Bonus Languages: A wizard may substitute Draconic for one of the bonus languages available to the character because of his race.

That car comes in any color you want, as long as its black.

Liberty's Edge

Yep, but the only thing it unlocks is Draconic.

Your linguistics total doesn't do anything for your number of languages known, but you get one additional language known for every rank you put into the skill. If your Aasimar takes the Truespeaker alternate racial trait you gain two languages for every rank.

Thanks for the notes and help guys.
