How would make a communal handy haversack

How would you go about designing a haversack with multiple access point that dont need to be attached to the main sack.

One person carries the main sack and can access it through the top opening and the 5+ side pouches can detach and be carried others and access the main sack through them.

Understand what I'm trying to get at?

Increase the CL of the item to 12th, add gate to requirements, and add +1 or +2 to the DC for each access point beyond the first(main sack and first extra access point).

Then put a range limit on it, ie. it has to be within 100 ft. of the main haversack. This is because otherwise it becomes a bit broken; letting PCs send items/messages over great distance at no cost. It should not outshine a pair of ring gates, which are limited in both distance and weight.

Price-wise it should be more expensive than ring gates, since this seems to be the comparable magic item. And this haversack has many more uses, especially if you wish to keep the ease of retrieving stored items.

The item I've descriped allows close proximity exhange of items, both tactical use and for emergencies: like trapped behind a blockade.

And you have to decide if creatures can travel through this item, increasing the usability even further.

Am I understanding you right about this item's purpose?

Yes, you got the idea right! Although I never thought about putting craetures in it.

The idea came about because we have party medical treasure but keep forgeting to pass out the its. This way we dont have to use our brains!

If it's something that specific, then you can design a more limited item. Limits like
- on any given day(24h period) no more that 20(10, 50, what ever) different tiny objects(or limited to potions, scrolls, wands) can be placed in the main pack, and the pack holds a maximum of 20(?) items, with combined weight no more than 10 pounds.
- objects held within can be retrieved as a standard action from any of the additional access points within 100 ft.(or another distance)

a more limitid object such as this should be cheaper(than the 40,000 gp ring gates), but I would keep the extra CL, gate and +2 per access.

It could also hold some firepower, and might be priced at 6-8000 gp(+1000 per extra access perhaps) - because what you are saving the PCs from is: holder retrieves object, drops it as a free action, and the one who needs it moves and picks it up(or is handed the item)... but once it's retrieved you can't simply put it back for others to use.

This could be a belt pouch with silent images of the items available(adding silent image to requirements, but still keeping the aura conjuration).

The Dangerous Downside:
Any character carrying an access is a potential target for pickpockets :)

The Exchange

hm. how about a portable demiplane? start with create demiplane and permanency, then add an item to act as a portable gateway, like a chest or small hatch. the inside can have air and light, and even food.

first you set up a 'false bottom', so that it can seem to be a normal chest. then you let the secret door swing open for access to the demiplane. as a cursed item, someone in the demiplane is stealing whatever is in the chest, or putting different stuff back.

As a demiplane, any of the access points that almost gets carried into another plane or suchlike, instead snaps back to the main bag.
Remains that get put in the bag become a ghoul that eats any further remains. Anything that reaches in without the password gets attacked.

It should be hackable by a smart artificer.

A smart artificer should be able to figure out the password.
