Buff / Heal Cleric Build

Advice

Hello everyone! I am new to pathfinder and I'm playing in pathfinder society. This is my first character and I am allowed to change my character. I played this character last night and people were giving me suggestions on how to better him. I want some advice on making a cleric that's good for buffing/healing. Here is what I have so far.

Race: Human (standard I guess)

Religion: Sarenrae

Stats:20 point buy
STR 14
Dex 10
Con 14
Int 10
Wis 16
Cha 14
(I think I need help here)

Skills: Diplomacy, Knowledge Religion, Sense motive

Domains: Healing and Heroism

Feats:Selective Channel and Improved Initiative (DO NOT WANT THIS I was thinking maybe tower shield or heavy armor.)

Traits: Indomitable Faith (+1 will is good) and exalted of the Society (+1 channel is good)

Like I said, I'd like to be tanky and throw out buffs and heals. Also, tips for spells I should ready would be helpful but those are also situational.

Thanks for any help you can give.

First Welcome to Pathfinder, now on to your character.

Go to Class Guides and check out the cleric guides, they will give you some insight into your class.

If you want to be more tanky there are some things you should note. As a cleric you need a free hand to cast spells, and you hand does not count as free in the heavy shield or tower shield, but it does in the light shield. You can get around this by using spiked gauntlets or kestuses in your other hand, so your weapon hand is technically free.

If you want to go the heavy armor tower shield route for max AC so you can be a in the fray buff/healer, I would put a level into fighter, because you get the heavy armor and tower shield proficiency, and a bonus combat feat, you will be a step behind in the healing and spells, but if you are in the thick of combat, that extra AC will keep you from having to heal yourself.

As for your stats and feats, your stats actually look pretty good to me, if you wanted to drop the int to -8 so you could get 12 dex, that would be one more AC, but its also one less skill point. If you don't want improved initiative, though you will eventually want it so you can go first and buff someone before they run into combat, then I would go combat casting, or extra channeling. Later I would pick up scribe scroll, so you can make all the situationally good spells into scrolls.

Stats look great. I'm personally not a fan of getting into healing in any form but that's just me.

Honestly? I'd drop the healing domain. In society you'll actually be nearing end game (level 8) before it makes a lick of difference. I'd pull two ponts from charisma (giving you 13) and move them to intelligence. Skills are good in PFS. I'd then pull two more to toss them into dexterity giving you some better AC and reflex saves.

As for armor? Going heavy armor won't hurt but I'd replace selective channel rather than improved initiative. Improved initiative works great for getting your buffs out early so everyone can benefit as soonas they are able.

Hope that helps.

I will suggest you focus more on casting or combat. What every you chose stick with it. You will be much better off.

Looks good. But remember, clerics are spellcasters. I think you’d be better off with a str of 12, allowing you either a Int of 12, a Dex of 12 or a CHA of 15 (going to 16 @ 4th level). Selective Channel is a great feat, allowing you to use your spells for offensive and buffing, rather than healing. Extra Channeling? Toughness?

Don’t drop your int to 8. I’d even say bump it to 12. Skill checks are fun, not being able to make any is no fun. There are several traits that give you Perception as a Class skill, Underbridge Dweller/Dim Seer from Magnimar is the best:

The other trait you want is Reactionary. IMHO, this is almost as good asImproved Initiative .

Heroism? You mean the Sub-domain of Glory?
Fire is better than Healing unless you use the Restoration Sub domain. Or until you get to be 6th level.
