So Cave Druids can turn into oozes, and one of those oozes, the Carnivorous Crystal Ooze has the following attack:

Slam +18 (7d8+9/18-20 plus entrap)

Which is insane by itself, but why not make it better? So a couple of questions.

1. If I take improved natural attack or cast strong jaw, where does the damage go from here? Conservatively, I would jump to 8d8 and then 12d8, but of course 7d8 lies halfway between 6d8 and 8d8 on the INA table.

2. Are there any rules for growing a natural attack even further? At 12d8 damage, this character is still medium size, and so enlarge person would boost their damage one step beyond. I figure it would follow the rule for the Strong Jaw spell and *Double the damage*

3. I guess improved natural attack would double this threat range to 15-20? The only reason I'm concerned is that it doesn't stack with

Quote:
This effect doesn't stack with any other effect that expands the threat range of a weapon.

and the crystal ooze has this:

Quote:

Razor Sharp (Ex)

A carnivorous crystal's slam attack deals devastating piercing and slashing damage, and threatens a critical hit on a roll of 18, 19, or 20.

But isn't that just stating the threat range rather than expanding it?

3. You can use this Slam attack of the titans in a flurry sequence with a flurry of blows if you have Feral Combat Training (Slam), but what if you have taken a monk archetype that gives up flurry, what then? Can you use the Slam attack as part of your iterative attack sequence (without flurry)?

Ah right, additional question:

4. Are Cave Druids shapeshifted into oozes meant to be blind? The various levels of beast shape spells don't give blindsight, but that is the only sense that an ooze has, so when you polymorph, you lose your original senses, but gain... nothing? That surely is an oversight isn't it?

To start I cant think of why this medium creature hits with a base of 7d8, but it does, so lets go from there. I dont know how it would prgress but I know you have some misconceptions. first, you cant add enlarge person to your wildshaped self. look under magic section in core under transmutation , polymorph. second your treat range would only be 20. you dont get the razor sharp (ex). you only get the stuff the spell gives you. now as for senses, I would go with adding blindsight to match blindseence if home game.

So lets clear up one misconception before we start:

1. Enlarge person is a Transmutation spell but not a polymorph effect. It would stack with wildshape. *Note, multiple effects that increase size don't stack, but since I started as medium and am currently medium after shifting into this ooze, has my size changed?*

But you don't have any ideas on how the damage would progress? Well I suppose none of us do, really.

Polymorph states that you get all the natural attacks of the base creature, and I am having trouble discerning whether the crit range is attached to the natural attack or the description.

Yeah, I'm thinking its some kinda oversight on the senses part. No skin off my back, by the time I have the levels to become the Ooze of doom, I can also cast echolocation.

this from prd- In addition, other spells that change your size have no effect on you while you are under the effects of a polymorph spell. -Note does not say 2 size effects, but if under a polymorph spell than no spell that changes your size will work.

Each step up in size is about a 50% increase in damage, 7d8 would go to 10d8 (rounding down). Not official, but there are no official rules.

Ah indeed you are correct. Missed that bit.
