As the title says what exactly does "hit by you" mean in the Shatter Defenses feat? Is it melee attack only or does ranged attacks and or spells work as well?
If you succeeded on an attack roll, you're good. Spells like Scorching Ray work, but not a Fireball.
I assume that blistering invective would not work then....
