Multiweapon Fighting question

Rules Questions

Can you use Multiweapon Fighting with unarmed strikes if you have three or more hands?

Sczarni

Absolutely. So long as those extra hands you are speaking of did not come from being an Alchemist.

Shadow Lodge

What about tentacle attack from an alchemist added to natural claw attacks?

Grand Lodge

Natural weapons are not unarmed strikes.

Unarmed strikes are not natural weapons.

Tentacle is not a hand.

Sorry, let me rephrase that. You would qualify to take the feat, but the restriction built into the Vestigial Arm discovery would mean you couldn't use the feat.

Grand Lodge

Multiweapon Fighting with unarmed strikes is, a dark path.

Sczarni

How so? It's really no different than using two-weapon fighting with unarmed strikes.

Grand Lodge

If this is for a NPC, then fine.

Multiweapon Fighting should never be in the hands of a PC.

Multiweapon Fighting with unarmed strikes is, a rules nightmare.

So can I have an eidolon who has as many arms as it can and multiweapon Fight with unarmed strikes to get as many attacks as it has arms?

Answering that question is part of the problem.

By the way, Eidolons have their own special rules, so be sure to check those.

Multiweapon Fighting (Combat)

Quote:

This multi-armed creature is skilled at making attacks with multiple weapons.

Prerequisites: Dex 13, three or more hands.

Benefit: Penalties for fighting with multiple weapons are reduced by –2 with the primary hand and by –6 with off hands.

Normal: A creature without this feat takes a –6 penalty on attacks made with its primary hand and a –10 penalty on attacks made with all of its off hands. (It has one primary hand, and all the others are off hands.) See Two-Weapon Fighting in the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook.

Special: This feat replaces the Two-Weapon Fighting feat for creatures with more than two arms.

I don't see how it would be a rules nightmare. It wouldn't be legal in PFS, because Multiweapon Fighting can only be found in the Bestiary, and that isn't a legal source for PC feats.

If you have Two-Weapon Fighting, and two hands, you can fight with two unarmed strikes.
If you have Multiweapon Fighting, and four hands, you can fight with four unarmed strikes...

...oh, I get it. Because who's to say you couldn't punch/punch/punch/punch/kick/kick/headbutt/shoulder slam/elbow/elbow/elbow/elbow...

Nevermind. Yeah, just ignore that I ever posted anything.

Sczarni

Although, I have to admit, being able to do THIS would be epic.

Grand Lodge

Indeed.

More limbs means more problems.

Multiweapon fighting should just be out of the hands of PCs.

Sczarni

Now that we've solved that, you should totally check out my post HERE and post your thoughts. Years ago you commented on the other threads that I linked at the bottom of that post, so I know you're curious, too.

It all stems from the FAQ that said you can TWF with Unarmed Strike as both main-hand and off-hand weapon. If that decision had gone the other way, this wouldn't be a problem.

Grand Lodge

Marilith Monks.

I warned you.
