While fighting a rather determined grappler, my table discovered the often overlooked "Add most non-armor bonuses to AC" clause on calculating one's CMD. The grappled character then asked if instead of attempting to escape or attack, if he could use the Total Defense action for the Dodge bonus to AC (and CMD)
We couldn't find any immediate reasons they couldn't take their standard to try to make sure they aren't pinned, so we let it fly. Does anyone know a reason why having the grappled condition would stop this?
