Eldritch Eye / Eye of the Arclord

Rules Questions

There seem to be a lot of comments regarding this feat - mostly as neat, but generally 'flavour only'.

Just wondering ... could it be used as an early entry method to Mystic Theurge?

Level 1 Wizard. Drop skill points into Knowledge(Arcana) and knowledge(Religion). Take two level-1 Divination spells.
Eldritch Eye has prereqs of Arcane Casting, and Knowledge(Arcana) 4. Check.

Then take a level of Cleric. Again, with two level-1 Divination spells.

The feat bumps those level-1 spells up to level-2.
The requirement for MT is Knowledge(Arcana) 3 and Knowledge(Religion) 3, and cast level-2 spells in both arcane and divine. Seems to be covered.

So ... Mystic Theurge at level 3?

There are so many problems with this.

First, remember that in Pathfinder, the maximum ranks you can have in any skill is equal to your Hit Dice, or your total level for most PCs. So to meet the prerequisites of 3 ranks in each skill, you will have to be at least level 3.

Second, the Eye of the Arclord feat increases the caster level of divination spells, not the actual level of the spell - so a level 1 Wizard may be able to cast Detect Secret Doors as a level 2 Wizard (increasing its maximum duration to 2 minutes), but that doesn't make it a level 2 spell any more than an actual level 2 Wizard casting it would. The spellcasting prerequisite for Mystic Theurge refers to the level of the spell, not the caster level.

So, no, that won't work. It's a cool feat (especially for characters who lack Darkvision on their own), but still the quickest route to Mystic Theurge is 3 levels of Wizard, 3 levels of Cleric (since level 3 is when each class gains access to level 2 spells), for a total character level of 6, not including the first level of Mystic Theurge.

Everything else you said was true, but not this.

The quickest way to Mystic Theurge is being an Aasimar with Daylight as an SLA and the feat that grants Wake of Light as one, too. Then you take three combined levels of the divine/arcane casting class of your choice and get Mystic Theurge with your 4th.

Liberty's Edge

Has daylight been ruled to work because it isn't level 2, it is level 3 and mystic theurge requires 2.

There's plenty of early entry methods that allow access at 4th though.
