It's not a town, though, it's a small section in the middle of it. Town has over 6,000 residents, only 60 of which were in the vicinity of the explosion. Thankfully, the train was unmanned when it exploded, which is good because anyone ON the train would have died for sure.
Those 60 people are unaccounted for. Not much we can do except hope they are alive an well. We'll see when the rescue teams arrive.

5 dead, 40 missing. It is a sad day for Quebec. I know people with family in this town. :(

Here is hoping the government and rail people learn from it - Trains with Explosive/toxic/bio-hazard do not go through the middle of towns ever.

You're providing clarification to someone who thinks the entire world should suspend all other activity to make enough wind turbines to power the world.

You wouldn't need oil if you had wind turbines turning water into hydrogen and oxygen...

We just need to surround the US House of Representatives with Wind Turbines. Then we would have a Global Surplus of energy!

Yes, because transporting hydrogen tanks is so much safer. Hydrogen has never been known to catch fire, and even if it had, everyone knows that the safest form of fuel is a cylinder of pressurized gas.

Hydrogen is less destructive because oil is a long carbon chain that must burn hotter and longer to oxidize the fuel.
