Can you alter the ability scores of animal companions?

As the thread title says. Can you alter the starting ability scores in a similar fashion as you can PCs with animal companions? ie- subtract 1-2 from stat X to buff strength etc.

The Herolab software lets you do it but am unsure this is intended or a bug.

THANKS!

The Pathfinder core rules specify by default to build PCs by point buy (which I would guess HeroLab is doing for you in the background) and animal companions by the statistics listed under the Druid class or the companion's Bestiary entry. Adjusting the companion's scores at 1st level is not standard. You have some opportunities to favour one or other of the companion's ability scores at higher levels.

per the rules? no.
