I like Pirate cookies. Not sure how this fits in with the DOMA discussion but I'm sure I could get a 5-4 decision as well if I were to argue in favor of Pirate cookies at the supreme court.
Edit: I think pirate cookies are only available in Canada

That's OK...here in the United States we have Ninja cookies.

I think the whole Guantanamo prison and the drone strike program are excellent targets though.
Given that the President has repeatedly tried to close Guantanamo, but has been stalled by Congress' refusal to fund the closure/transfer, I don't think that is a very good target, actually. He really does seem to want to close Guantanamo.
Drone strikes, on the other hand: fire away. The administration should catch some flak for that.

Could he not have closed it by executive order by now? Or at least released many of the poor detainees that pose no threat and have been effectively held for over a decade for no apparent reason?

He has been trying to do both, but lacks the ability to do so without Congressional approval. This section of Wikipedia gives a solid run-down of what's been going on for the last few years.

Guy,
Given Congress has made a law saying they cannot be released to the American mainland, and other countries are unwilling to accept their nationals back for a variety of reasons, actually, no, he probably can't. Well he could, but that would mean stranding them in an even worse extra-judicial limbo. Obama is a disappointment in human rights/security state areas but it's not 100% his fault.

An article in the Guardian, a UK newspaper, mentions that 'double tap' strikes might be considered War Crimes by the UN. If you do't like the Guardian just google a news source you prefer - there seems to be any number mentioning the issue.

Best part is that with drones, you have complete footage of their entire trip, which orders were given by who and when. I don't doubt the military will come to realize the results this will bring. Plus, you are not likely to hear the argument "if you weren't there, if you weren't in danger, you can't criticize" about it. Operation foot bazooka, anyone?
