Character Art for as low as $3!

Gamer Life General Discussion

5 people marked this as a favorite.

I'm opening myself up for commissions for the first time. Because I'm still a student and want to get as much practice and experience as I can, I've set the prices as low as I can!.

For full information, look here!

Portrait Sketches: $3
Full-Body Sketches: $8
Rendered Portrait: $5+ (see link)
Rendered Full-Body: $10+ (see link)

The full render portrait (top center black and white) looks pretty good. I would blow that up to draw attention to your work.

Thanks, though it's not the exact sort of image I'm expecting people to want.

That's some impressive stuff, I may need to commission you to do a sketch of my Carrion Crown PC.

I would be more than happy to!

This isn't really helpful atm, but I added you to my forum address book to keep you in mind a ways down the road when I will eventually need artwork done.

How much would it cost to get a sketch a 4 person party and a 6 person party?

If it's all full-body, then it would cost $32 for all four people, but since it's a group I'll knock off the $2 and make it an even $30. If it's busts (a sort of "family portrait" style look with people standing behind eachother) it would be a sort of halfway point between portrait/full body and we could work something out. In that case the 4 players would probably be... $20?

The same "group photo" of busts for a 6-man group I'll put at $30. So $5 per person in a bust-only group image.

That's perfectly fine! I'm more busy during the school years but I should still have plenty of time to do an odd sketch or painting here and there.

Sovereign Court

In which way would you accept payment? Paypal?

Yes, from the email address listed in the commission info link. It's the only option I have available right now.

Dot for later. Tumblr blocked at work.

Silver Crusade

Dot for tonight. Definitely have some stuff in mind. :)

Are you still taking requests?

Silver Crusade

o dam, I'm glad you bumped this.

Sovereign Court

Actually, if you're still accepting commissions, I have one (possibly two) bits of art that I've been needing for some time...

Woa I thought this was completely dead.

To answer your questions... yes, but I have less free time on my hands to do them as the school semester is in full swing, so they would be slow going.

Silver Crusade

Will send PM tomorrow when both arms are working right. :)

I would like to commission a full body art work please.

Eldak Norrinson Descendant Of Edrukk Cloudripper

He is a 4'4", 45 year old male dwarf. He has a Strength Score of 24 narutally while raging, with this type of build (http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3011/2643303832_06c6cc2d96_o.jpg), weighing in at 200lbs. He has long wavy black hair/beard/mustache, the top part of his hair is pulled back and braided and the rest is free flowing, beard is free flowing and mustache is braided as well. For the most part it is not a well kept hair style it gets brushed but that about it. He has very prominent cheekbones with dark brown eyes, his eyes hold a vast hatered. He wears dwarven made agile breastplate and weilds a large size dwarven long axe (10' long with a 3' axe head on it, the axe head has a dwarven face carved into the metal). In each hand he wears a cestus. He also has a cloak of furs.
If possible I would like his pose to be that he is charging a giant (meaning he is looking upwards to a 12' giant with his axe reared up to cut its throat)

My email is mreilly396@gmail.com

Just to let everyone who's interested know: I'm going to be updating my rates soon, once I've finished a few of the things I'm currently working on, so bear in mind the pricing of things will be slightly different.

Dotting for later interest.

how long do they take?

Tossing up getting a few done as xmas presents... would the images scale up to A3 poster size reasonably well?

Because I'm in school right now I can't make any promises in terms of time (initially I wasn't even going to remain open for commissions during the semester), but I'm not going to request payment until it is mostly finished regardless.

To give you a more specific answer, it depends on what you ask for! A detailed character sketch usually takes around an hour, not including breaks for tea and such, and a render takes a few hours more in terms of solid work. Again, not including breaks, for time spend doing research (the latter being why it's good for you to give me as much reference as possible!)

If you tell me beforehand that it will be printed at a certain size, it absolutely can be. By default I work at around 2000x3000pix, 300dpi, which is about letter size. If you want something larger, it can be made larger. Finals Week happens shortly before Christmas, however, but I could probably get a few images done in the weeks between if I push.

I'm going to come out and say that commissions are closed until further notice, though you may still feel free to give me info on what you want and I'll keep it on file and contact you once I can open again. I have a HUGE project going on in my concept art class from now until finals that is going to take all of my focus. Also, like I'd mentioned in a previous comment, I'm going to be changing my rates (to, among other things, include discounts for commissions of full partiess!)

Feel free to keep dotting, commenting and asking questions, though.

LOL ok sorry I was talking in terms of turn around being measured in days and weeks :P

...and looks like I picked the wrong time to ask :)

I was going to get a few characters drawn up; a few faces and a few full body (possibly a full render?) or two.

Might keep an eye on when you re-open then if I have just missed the boat.

Day/week turn around depends on how much else is going on, and when nothing else is going on, how close the deadline is, and if there's no close deadline... how exciting whatever you're handing me is ;). If you buckle down and work, digital illustrations take almost no time at all compared to other media. It only takes days or weeks because we have 3+ other assignments/jobs going on at the same time.

When they're open again, I'll be posting on the linked tumblr about the new rates and then commenting here, and probably starting a new thread.

Cool thanks for the info :)

GL with your class and let us know when you re-open!

Dot. Hope you open commissions up again soon.
