Onehanded weapon for a TWF shoanti

Advice

As it is not possible to start with thunder and fang, which weapon would be fitting for a shoanti to use with TWF until he has thunder and fang?

I'm thinking about both a onehanded or a light weapon, as the klar seems to be a onehanded weapon (the weapon table on d20pfsrd lists it as such). So I could "mainhand" the klar and use a light weapon in the offhand. Or I could suck up the penalty and use two onehanded weapons.

Any ideas on what would be fitting from a flavor point of view?

Klar is also a light shield, which is a light weapon. Double Klar!!!

Yeah, um, about that...

Sczarni

What about it?

Without wanting to start a new "doublewield shields" debate, I was looking for a solution that seems fitting favorwise, not some way to get the most bang for my bucks.

Any other ideas?
I can't find any more shoanti weapons beside the klar, the earthbreaker and a bola.
What do you think, would they rather use swords, axes, hammers? The earthbreaker is a hammer but the klar has a blade. So I'd rule axes out, more or less.

Edit: On the other hand there is a clan called axe clan. So they are back in, too.

Another traditional Shoanti Weapon is the Totem Spear. The Lyrune-Quah are expert Archers, and the Axe Clan you mention, I always imagined hand/throwing axes as opposed to a big battle axe - but flavour wise any & all should be good.

And of course there is always the Unarmed Strike.

Personally I think the idea of a blood soaked Shoantie with two klars seems rather fitting for such a war like people's. I'm not saying you have to TWF with them, use one as a shield and the other as a 1 handed weapon.

Or just two hand the Earthbreaker until you can wield it with twf and then pick up the Klar. TWF isn't that great at low levels anyway.

It is unclear if the Klar is a Light, or One-handed weapon.

I would opt for something simple. A handaxe or a shortspear would fit pretty well with my image of the Shoanti. A dagger could work too, if you imagine it as a long knife. No swords, I'd say.

True that. I've been mulling over a double Klar build and I don't know what's what.

Can I dual wield klars? What are the penalties?
Can I two hand a Klar? If so what is the STR mod?
Can I use my Klar hand to hold/wield another weapon?
Can I QuickDraw a Klar? With the shield property or the feat?

Rules thread on Klar here.

I love the Klar, but need to low down on rules to use it.

Sczarni

Is there an official response in that thread? If so I missed it, but I admit I skimmed some posts.

Grand Lodge

Unfortunately, no.

A possible resurrection of the thread, and more posters hitting the FAQ button could help.

The Exchange

I love everything about the Klar and I hope the clear things up soon.
